OVERVIEW

A mini sized boost that features Variable Preshape Filter.

The MB Mini series of pedals from Markbass is made to the same high quality level as their standard effect line, but uses an ultra-compact, lightweight chassis. Smaller than other stompboxes, these incredible-sounding pedals will fit onto even the most crowded pedal boards, and the 9-12V power requirement means you can use them with any standard power supply.Give your pedal board a "boost" with the MB Mini Boost-which also features Variable Preshape Filter (boosts lows and highs, and cuts mids).

The MB Mini Boost allows you to boost your signal level by up to +20dB, to instantly give you more clean headroom whenever you need it. The VPF filter gives you the option to cut midrange while boosting lows and highs, for clean attack and a bottom-heavy slap sound.

MB Mini Boost offers first-rate professional features and exceptional sound quality in an ultra-compact, lightweight chassis, smaller and lighter than other stompboxes. Its standard 9-12V voltage allows you to power it with most common pedal board power supplies.

Like all Markbass pedals, the MB Mini Boost features "true bypass": that means that when the distortion is "off", your signal goes directly from the input jack to the output jack without any degradation of audio quality.

The MB Mini Boost features high-quality components for top sound quality, and is 100% Made in Italy.

Comments about Markbass MB Mini Boost Compact Boost Effects Pedal For Bass:

I mainly bought this for the VPF knob. I already have a Markbass Little Mark II amplifier, and I play a lot of electronic music live with bands on my bass. When you turn on an octave pedal (I use the Boss OC-2) with only the sub-octave on, you can turn the VPF knob on the amp all the way up and you will absolutely blow the roof off the place. It's the secret weapon for sub-bass playing. You turn your bass cabs into huge subwoofers and the main PA subwoofers will rumble everyone's insides (in a good way). I got tired of turning around and turning the VPF knob all the way up for octave pedal sections of songs, then having to turn around and turn the knob all the way down when I was finished. I thought this pedal would make everything convenient, but no. The VPF knob on the pedal doesn't even come CLOSE to the amp's knob/effect. A cranked VPF knob on the pedal is probably equivalent to the knob being turned up 50% on the amp. The boost on this pedal is clean and great, but that's not why I bought it.

Comments about Markbass MB Mini Boost Compact Boost Effects Pedal For Bass:

I bought this as a way to instantly change to a slap tone. My previous "solution" was a pedal with simply a mid control (level and frequency). This new Markbass pedal, however, works to not only control the midrange, but when cut, the bass and treble bands get beefed up (when the VPF gets turned up). There aren't individual band controls here, and that's not what I was looking for, anyway...just something that contours the tone all at once. If you dial the knob back, the midrange comes back, while the bass and treble ease back down. Pair this with the level boost control, however you choose to set the VPF, and you can get a serious butt-shakin' funk tone for solos, too (I'm mostly concerned with the band mix). Playing in a Prince tribute band, enough songs obviously call for a great slap tone, so this works perfectly for me. I'm not sure why others have said that this pedal isn't very effective, because from my experience, it's very sensitive. You can make big changes with only slight turns of the knobs. I have this linked up with only two other pedals, and it's an essential addition for me.

My only complaint? I'm not big on the footswitch MB chose to use. My other pedals have a smooth engagement, while the Mini Boost has that hard click of much older pedals. I only dislike these, not only because of the "loud" click sound on stage, but also that these tend to wear out because of the non-smooth feel. I may just buy another as a backup, because this pedal is great.

Comments about Markbass MB Mini Boost Compact Boost Effects Pedal For Bass:

This effect is essentially the EQ section of the MicroMark 801. It sounds great, but it would be much more versatile if it could run on batteries. On the upside, it does come with a power supply.

Nice gain and Mark Bass sound. VPF filter seems to have minimal effect.
