Overview

Three parallel drives across an expandable stereo field.

Build the width, depth and movement of multiple guitar performances from a single take with the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Beam Splitter V2 advanced stereo distortion pedal. Three digitally controlled analog drive circuits run in parallel, and two selectable voices can be offset with internal delays to create convincing triple-tracked-style timing differences. Each drive has independent gain, volume and tone controls, with dedicated outputs supporting OBNE's trereo format alongside conventional mono and stereo operation. The V2 Beam Splitter expands the concept with selectable delay assignment, Spread control, onboard presets, MIDI, expression control and individual drive switching. Guitarists and producers building wide, layered parts from one instrument can use Beam Splitter as both a distortion source and an active spatial-arrangement tool.

Three Parallel Drives Build Layered Distortion

Unlike a stacked gain pedal, Beam Splitter V2 does not feed one drive circuit into the next. All three voices remain in parallel, preserving their individual tone and dynamic character before they are combined or routed to separate outputs. Dedicated gain, volume and tone controls let you keep the voices closely matched or shape each one for a distinct role within the mix. The revised third drive also offers a broader gain range than the original version, providing even greater contrast across the composite sound.

Selectable Delays Create Triple-Tracking Movement

Two internal delays create the subtle timing differences that make separately recorded guitar parts sound wider than a duplicated track. A selection control determines which pair of drives receives those delays, while Time sets the offset, Feedback introduces repeats and Deviate adds randomized movement so the spread feels natural rather than mechanically fixed. The result ranges from subtle spatial separation to unstable, animated distortion textures.

Routing and Digital Control Support Complex Rigs

Beam Splitter V2 can operate in mono, create a conventional stereo spread or send each drive to its own output in a trereo setup. Stereo sources are accepted at the input and collapsed internally while the effect is active. Three onboard presets provide immediate recall, while MIDI expands storage to 127 locations and gives external control over every parameter. Expression can be assigned to any primary knob, and the soft-touch footswitches can either control individual drives or cycle through presets. Trails and true-bypass modes complete a pedal designed for guitarists and producers who want spatial distortion to become a playable part of the arrangement.
