OVERVIEW

(Open Box) Classic fuzz and overdrive sound tones in a board-friendly smaller size.

Pigtronix Disnortion Micro packs all the sonic glory and 18v headroom of the original analog Fuzz and Overdrive circuits from the large-format Disnortion pedal into a miniature version that runs on 9-volts. The original, 3-footswitch Disnortion pedal was in production from 2005 to 2015 and remains in constant use with world-class bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Aerosmith, Living Colour and Muse. In response to a decade’s worth of customer feedback, we proudly update this classic analog stompbox with the introduction of the Pigtronix Disnortion Micro.

This new micro version of the Disnortion hugely one-ups the original’s broad palette of touch responsive dirt sounds by including the ability to switch from a parallel routing to a new, super-saturated series routing where the 6-stage CMOS overdrive circuit is cascaded into our unique diode clipping fuzz and output through a 6-way passive filter network. A single gain knob controls the saturation of both the fuzz and overdrive circuits simultaneously.

The Parallel routing mode is ideal for players who like to pile on the gain without sacrificing clarity, dynamic response, punch or low end - it’s like double tracking your guitar inside a micro pedal! The Series routing mode offers an even wider range of gain and more extreme filter effects for metal tones and beyond, including self-oscillating timbres that can be modulated by pickup selection and guitar control settings.

The CMOS overdrive found in the Disnortion Micro responds to the dynamics of your playing using a unique, 6-stage gain architecture that retains the natural tone of your instrument while adding tube-style breakup as you play louder. Pigtronix Fuzz has a unique diode-clipping architecture designed to deliver compression and controllable feedback while preserving the dynamics of your playing style. The rotary tone control filter switch provides 6 musical EQ curves using a complex passive network which compliments the Overdrive channel’s traditional low-pass filter.

The original Pigtronix Disnortion is loved for its limitless headroom, making it compatible with any instrument, from the weakest '60s pawnshop single-coils the most belligerent humbuckers as well as 5-string active basses and modern synth rigs. Pigtronix Disnortion Micro achieves this world-class performance standard using standard 9v power—and it fits in your pocket.

A Great little pedal. I have had it over 3 monthS and it has become indespensible. This knocked a Fulltone '69 and a Skreddy Rover off my board.

Lots of great tones and it stacks well. I use a Amp 11 (COT boost side) and a Tumus after this littlee guy and a Source Audio Eq before into a Wet/Dry rig comprising a Bassbreaker 15 and Princeton '68 Reverb Reissue Black and Blue.

I have never had ANY noise issues using a One Spot CS 12 or a standalone Onespot wall wart.

At this price point and this size you can't go wrong

Comments about Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Pedal:

After about 15 minutes I started hearing a squeal from my pedal board. I isolated it to the Disnortion by disconnecting each pedal separately. When I went to disconnect the pedal from the board I noticed it was very hot. I returned it

Comments about Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Pedal:

I like pedals that can fill more than one roll. This pedal does light distortion to high gain fuzz, It fits the manufacturer description. The controls can get a lot in between. The main drawback which I've found with most pigtronix pedals is it needs it's own isolated power supply. It whined bad on my cheap (dp1) brick. No whine plugged into it's own wall wart.

Comments about Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Pedal:

... tone should derive from the combined elements of your amp, guitar, and your hands. Pedals and effects are just no darn good. I'm and Old School Gnarly Old Man... been playing R&R guitar for 54 years... and with the sole exception of 1968-1969 when I played with 2 Marshall SLP 200 watt stacks and a fuzz tone and cry baby wah wah, I've shunned effects completely (sure.
Every once in a while I check out a pedal for fun. This one is particularly sucky. IMO if you seek tone buy a Telecaster and a Fender Vibroking amplifier. Second choice is an old 50 watt Marshall SLP Halfstack with a Gibson Les Paul Standard with P-90 pickups.
I returned this pedal of course. I mean, a man's gotta have some standards...

Comments about Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Pedal:

The Disnortion pedal is probably awesome, but I will have to wait to find out because it doesn't ship with a power adapter (9v 2.1mm negative center 600ma or greater). The ONLY clue to this in the product listing is where it says: "Pigtronix Disnortion Micro achieves this world-class performance standard using standard 9v power." This is only a little hint, and only useful to those hip to the game.

Must be used with isolated power or you will get noise issues! I think is is true of most fuzz pedals, also placement is important, mine is first in the chain. Great range of sounds, very usable for many styles. Really liking this pedal.

Comments about Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Pedal:

Great selection of different kinds of distortion but about a month after the MF return policy expired that dreaded squealing that others talked about started. Also noticed the pedal itself was hot to touch. MF wouldn't help so I emailed Pigtronix. They informed me that you are supposed to use a power supply rated at least 300ma. So I had an extra rated at 400 ma, it worked for a while but started acting weird again. It wasn't until I tried a Onespot rated at 1700 ma that it settled down but it's still very warm to the touch. My personal and professional opinion is that these are all defective and Pigtronix does not want to own up to it. Not worth the hassle of running a separate power supply. When it was hooked up to the multi output power supply I had it crashed my whole board when it started squealing and the light started blinking on and off. MY advice is stay away from this, plenty of other pedals out there.

Comments about Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Pedal:

The variety of tones is truly impressive. There are seven different distortion "shapes" you can choose from,

The problem I had is that 6 of the 7 had an ear-splitting squeal (even when not playing anything).

I ran this alone with varying setups and confirmed it was the pedal. I thoght it was defective and exchanged it for a new one. The new one was exactly the same. You know that hum on big old amp stacks? It's always in the background but when you play loud you can't hear it? It was like that but louder and sounded like nails on a chalkboard. Really terrible.

Comments about Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Pedal:

Amazing little distortion/fuzz works great for bass! I experienced the power related squealing described in other reviews and was ready to send the unit back but then discovered on Pigtronix's website that this little pedal can run at 9/12 or 18v. When connected to the 18v supply on my DP1 it operates flawlessly (and frees up a 9v spot for another pedal!). It's been mentioned that running this pedal on it's own power supply (wall wart) is another less desirable work-around. Subtracted a star for the weird power sensitivity issue but otherwise this is a solid buy!

So far I haven't had any problems although I don't want to jinx myself. This pedal has had great reviews everywhere eise but here. Maybe it's this place that got some defective ones? It has distortion and lots of options for fuzz. It does heat up because it's tiny and has a lot going on in it's small package. Every video from good reviewers on utube not only make sound good they like it. Unplug it when not in use.

Returned three defective disnortion pedals due to high pitched squeel! Tried hooking up to amp as well as preamp and thru headphones and still got ear piercing squeel, even at lower gains. Tried several power supplies including pedal power plus 2 with regulated power. Still got high pitched squeel. Would not buy this product!!!

I like the idea of the six way fuzz shape. The box is too small, doesn't fit well on a pedal board.

Awesome sound through a transistor amp. I cannot wait to try it through my tube amp.

pretty nice array of fuzz tones, and a sweet overdrive too. Spend some time with each setting and you will be rewarded with cool tones. Small footprint for any pedalboard
