The Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface features a 12AX7 tube for natural overdrive and compression, and an astounding collection of effects.

Energizer using 12AX7 tube
Giving body to the guitar sound and adding supple power and intensity - that is the task of the Energizer. Turning up the TUBE control to drive the 12AX7 produces warm crunch with rich harmonics. The BOOST control spruces up highs and lows, resulting in more transparency. Enjoy a powerful tone also when recording directly to a line input or via USB on a computer.

ZFX-3 - a 32-bit DSP designed by ZOOM
The heart of any multi-effect device is its processor and decoder section. ZOOM has started a fresh chapter with its new ZFX-3 chip. The 32-bit architecture ensures outstanding performance and allows smooth and detailed signal processing. Accuracy and speed ensure that even delicate picking and fingering work come across with impressive clarity.

DSP sound modeling plus tube circuitry create the ultimate in distortion
96 kHz sampling and 24-bit A/D/A conversion assure super high resolution sound. An abundance of signal processing power allows accurate recreation of the complex upper-range harmonics that are the hallmark of tube amplifiers. Analog circuitry using a 12AX7 tube then adds that classic warmth and sonic impact to the DSP sound. The result combines the best of the digital and analog worlds: distortion so advanced and sophisticated it elevates your guitar playing to the next level.

Preamp section with two channels
The preamp section, comprised of the amp/drive-modeling, and EQ modules offers two channels per patch. You can easily select a channel by simple foot switch operation. Toggle between a Fender clean sound for rhythm and a Marshall drive sound for lead, while keeping modulation and spatial effect settings the same. The user interface with analog knobs lets you shape the sound with the same facility as on a guitar amp.

Great for stage work or direct recording
The amp/drive-modeling blocks have two dedicated algorithms for each amp/drive type, designed for live playing and direct recording. The CABINET effect simulates amp and mic recording characteristics as well, and the algorithm is automatically switched according to the CABINET on/off setting. This lets you bring the same guitar sound that you used during practice or recording right on to the stage. Alternatively, sound settings that were determined during a session with the band can be used seamlessly in the studio as well.

USB based audio interface functions
The USB port allows the unit to function as an audio interface for a computer. Simply plug the unit in to your computer with a USB cable to use the high-quality sound of the G7.1ut in a computer-based recording system. The high-performance DAW application "Cubase LE" comes bundled with the unit, so you can start creating sophisticated music straight away. Because playback from the DAW application can be monitored at the unit itself, there are no latency problems during recording.

MIDI IN/OUT jacks allow linking to other equipment
The ability to exchange MIDI data with other devices opens up a wealth of possibilities. You can switch patches in conjunction with a MIDI enabled preamp, or use the unit as a real-time controller for other MIDI equipment. By connecting the MIDI interface to a computer, you may use a dedicated editor/librarian application to edit and store patch data.

Great Buy! If you care about tone...

    By Ginoson

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

I've been using this thing for the last three years and it's amazing how much I've learned about tone and how to get what I want by using this Zoom multi-effects pedal. The factory presets are all horrible. However, once you realize that, the world of tone is at your feet if you actually take the time to mess with your own sounds. It's been crazy to see how much my own sounds have changed over the last three years as I've used this as my main rig. It sounds great going into any tube amp. I usually run it into either a Fender Deluxe or a Reverb Deluxe... either one sounds great. I've tried it with Vox AC 15/30 as well as Mesa's. As long as you know what you want, this guy will let you get it. It might not be the ultimate effects board since it only has space for three different effects/delays... but add a DL4 and you will forget about that problem anyways. Great value. Great sounds... and leave the tube booster on always.

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

I have been using this pedal for the last 5 years and it has never let me down it's got lots of features and sounds nice for the money. Its been around the world taken abuse in the airports still keeps on kicking. You will have to tweak your sounds to get what you want. overall I would say pretty good stuff for the price. It has couple of settings to run it through a power amp sounds very clean no hum or anything and very clean sounding foot pedal. I have used it for main shows as well as gigs run it through a fender hot rod. Good stuff

    Decent unit, but eats tone

    Ask me a question

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

There are some good tones in this unit, and some great features, but it is very complex and sucks tone badly.

I love that this unit doubles as a USB audio interface, and the modeling sounds for recording are actually quite good (again, if you take your time and gain familiarity with the parameters). The "A.I.R." control is essential for recorded tones.

The main problem is that it sucks your core guitar/amp tone BIG TIME. I've tried virtually every possible combination of in front of the amp, in the loop, every setting, every parameter, and you just can't avoid having your tone sucked away.

I can get over the complexity of the unit, and the hum it produces. But I can't get over having my tone sucked away. I play really nice equipment, and I can't tolerate any unit that eats the tone produced by my fingers. I need a clear, clean signal chain that remains responsive. This unit has become totally unusable for me because it sucks tone.

Having said all that, I have had good results plugging this unit directly into a solid state power amplifier and running it into a cabinet. Especially with a warm power amp like a Marshall Valvestate 8008, you can produce many good tones. It's just a lot of work to get there, and if you have really nice gear, you can forget about your "holy grail" tone.

I still use it occasionally for some really "out-there" tones, but I am shopping for a new, better unit these days. My recommendation is to buy something other than this unit.
You can control virtually every parameter.
Expression pedal started squeaking after 2 or 3 years, and the buttons got finicky.
it was a great value back then. Nowadays, I'm not so sure...

    Look No Further

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

I think its great that musicians friend finally got zoom products. This pedal is one sweet deal. I have no problems dialing in a killer sound in 10-15 minutes with this. Plenty of sounds for anyone to be able to use, not just metal guys like me. The acoustic sim is really good on this, as are the rest of the amp models. I use the 5150 pretty much all the time. The Mesa sounds a bit more like a Mesa to me than Line 6. The Deizel is probably my second favorite though for hi gain amps. Zooms original Z stack is also worth checking out. The bulk of the effects sound great and the ones that don't sound good you would probably never think to use anyways. Probably the most important part though: the preamp tube. Not a gimmick at all. I use more of the boost setting than I do the tube saturation and get better results. Much warmer and natural feeling than the 8 other modelers I've owned. Very reliable and solid built. Couple things I dont like: Distortion stomps are grouped in the preamps, so no blending tube screamers with whatever amp you want. There is only one cabinet model and 2 mics, but, you do get way more microphone positioning options which to me is way more important. I wish it had an editor like Gearbox. It is capable of USB recording, I use my M-audio box still, but I did try it and if you use the asio driver from Zooms website its pretty low latency. Buy this and buy some good cable with the money you save. People tend to underestimate their cables. I recommend Monster, but there are some other good ones out there too.

Only good for practicing. Not much good elsewhere.

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

This multi-fx unit (Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal) has tons of features and great customizing capabilities. However, tons of the effects sound horrible. The flanger is bad (as well as the phaser and the eq's. The pitch shift is useless as well). The more gain that is used, the more horrible it sounds. This pedal has the tone of a dying sloth and it doesn't cut through a mix worth three dumps. Through any amp it sounds pretty bad. The only sensible application it has is through a computer recording interface via usb, and who really uses that live?Compared to a BOSS multieffects unit, it loses in every aspect. With the Zoom, tone and power are lost and it makes even the best of guitars (Trust me I played through it with a Gibson Studio Les Paul) sound dinky and down right laking all of their original beauty.Look elsewhere.

I've had it for about 3 years. Buttons stick badly which really annoys me during playing. It has a noticeable hum coming from it and I think most of the preset tones suck. nuff said

    BEST BET!!!!

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

I was perusing the listings looking for a new effects pedal and wanted to stay away from the line 6 stuff and as much away from solid state as I could. I had an old Zoom 500 Pro from back in the 90s that IO loved and thought maybe I could find an old one to use. Even though it was solid state I loved it. Then I type in Zoom and BAM! A floor model WITH TUBES!!!!! This thing cranks and is awesome. It has the best flexibility and sound I have played with in years. I am sooooooo glad they got back so aggressively in the effects business. This thing really fills my sound up and helps me get all I can out of my little combo amp. I know the system I had set up before, Marshall half stack, would have sounded enormous with these tones as my little Frontman belts out the tube and solid state tones wonderfully. BUY THIS PEDAL!

    best choice

    By jim dolecek

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

This thing is awesome. I'm a metal player, so i just focus on the heavy distortion. The sound is way better than I expected, with a tad of compression the sound I got with little tweaking was just awesome. This thing is the best choice for any metal player.

Good for recording but not live

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Zoom G7.1ut Tube Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal/USB Interface:

I owned this thing for a couple of years. I bought it because it had a tube in it and I thought that it would sound better through an amp than a regular multi-fx. I bought it before I had a real tube amp and was playing out of a small practice amp. Then it sounded fine. When I played it through my real amp, it sounded terrible. I even tried putting it straight to the power amp and it still sounded bad. The sounds that are on it are great, and I learned a lot about effects with this thing, but it is not useable with a good tube amp. However, when recording tracks via USB, it sound great. As good or better than any software modeling program. So, I it for computer recording, but not for use with a tube amp. If you want effects to sound good, you'll have to buy them individually, thats what I learned with this unit.
