Comments about Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard:

I would use this bass for anything that would require a bass. It is a good, solid Jazz Bass. I have had good luck in the past with higher end Mexico Fenders and this one is no exception. I own and have owned many USA Fenders and these are very comparable. In short, the looks, feel, tone, materials, of the bass are amazing. No sharp fret edges, beautiful pau ferro fretboard, All I had to do was tweak the truss rod a little for my perfect setup. Electronics are fine, big pots, pickups sound good and can always be upgraded if you wanted. Same with bridge, it works fine but you could possibly go a little better on a Leo Quan if you felt the need. So far no problem with tuners, as for me I'll probably leave it stock. Bonus, mine is 8Lbs and some ounces! I have been playing guitar for over 35 years and started playing bass a few months ago but all the same guitar build rules apply. I like good quality guitars and I recommend this bass for anyone out there that has the same requirement.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard:

The bass came in with the pole pieces out of alignment on the neck pick-up cover. After pulling the pickguard, there were 3-4 holes drilled for each pickup adjustment screw. So they must have had a novice assembling it. I replaced those pickups with Seymour Duncan pickups and mad sure the adjustment screw holes were aligned. That problem was fixed at my expense, but I'd rather have better pickups, anyway.

The real problem is the truss rod falls short of straightening out the neck. You turn the truss rod wrench, and when you let go, it bounces back to where I started. I'm in the process of communicating with MF now.

Icing on the cake - a FREE two year warranty was given by MF. When you hit the link for the warranty, the page doesn't exist.

This is the WORST new Fender guitar or bass I've ever purchased. BTW, Fender doesn't care ... I wrote them, too, and they never answered back.

I DO NOT recommend this bass for anyone.

Boy, am I disappointed. I'm in the process of trying to find a new neck (all are on back order).

Comments about Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard:

This Bass is my main instrument I play in a VERY busy 60's cover band and this baby serves the purpose..well made ,light weight, smooth lines, good looks...( I may at some point change the stock pickups for a set of Seymour Duncan 1/4 lb. replacements but other than that?......SUPERB JAZZ BASS.It just feels right playing it...getting lots of great comments on its sound as well

Comments about Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard:

Not at all heavy compared to traditional ash fenders. Nice balance,,,in fact really nice balance - no neck dive whatsoever. Swapped PU's for Dimarzio dp123's, would get a brighter set if doing over - just my preference. Bridge was also replaced with hipshot "b@d@$$" clone. Used with Levy's M29 strap (discontinued). I am glad I purchased.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard:

This is my second comment about this bass. Pro's: First, this is a great looking bass. Cons: It is heavy, no special PUP's, okay electronics, no gig bag or case, fret board is really appearing dry. I did not buy this bass because even at 6'4" this bass is really heavy and for the slight tone difference, ash is too heavy in a 34" bass. I would change out the PUP's, have to pay for a pro setup and it is easier to buy a better bass and save the extra hassle. It still looks great , but the weight is a deal killer.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard:

This is a very nnice looking bass I have purchased 7 years ago and sold. Why?
              1) it was really heavy and standing with this thing was weight training.
              2) It had the standard JB pickups and nothing special for the extra cost,
              3) for some reason the greed factor is at play. This bass is no more special than the standard JB but cost much more money with the same PUP's. and ash is cheaper to buy than alder
              4) this baby did not come with a gig bag or case and for the extra money a cheap fender gig bag is necessary.
So I sold it a bought a much lighter Alder JB for three quarters the price and got a used case with it.
Ash is a great wood for a bar fight or a baseball game!!!!

Comments about Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Pau Ferro Fingerboard:

This is your basic MIM standard bass. It does not have hot PUP's and is very heavy being sh. It looks good but is very pricey for what you get. I had a chance to get this at nearly half and did not pull the trigger, The thing is just too heavy.
