OVERVIEW

It's stunt trombone, it's a slide trumpet, it's the 314L!

This instrument is beautifully made and has a super sweet tone. It is very much in between in that most trumpet players haven't developed slide technique and most trombone players are accustomed to trumpet mouthpieces. Still, as an instrument to develop as a sight gag or a unique voice in your sound palette, it is satisying from even a critical perspective. It sounds really good and plays really well. It is a Bb instrument, and for a trumpet player who wants to develop some ability with the slide, or a trombone player who wants to pucker up a little tighter, it is a potentially expressive instrument.

I play nearly every brass and woodwind instrument out there. Of those, trumpet and trombone are my forte'. I thought this was going to be the ultimate marraige of the two. For me, it sounded too much like a trumpet. If you're off a quarter tone on a trombone, you can get away with it- now and then. Not so on a brightly sounding instrument such as this one. If you were the least bit off, it sounded, well, really "corny". Quality, fit and finish in this price range was fine. I only wish they could have made the bell a little larger to darken the tone-more like a flugel. Mayble some one out there will listen to me- then I'll be back!

Don't let the title "soprano trombone" fool. You this thing is a trumpet, and sounds like it in every possible way except for the fact that you can slur notes. I also found that the tuning slide could go out only about 2 cm before it came to a hole that let air escape, giving a worse tone. I would not recommend buying this product unless you really know what you are buying.

A Bargain

By Anonymous

Comments about Jupiter 314L Soprano Trombone - Slide Trumpet:

I'm a longtime trombone player, converted to cornet/trumpet. The Jupiter is my only experience with a soprano trombone. It was easy to learn to play (smaller mouthpiece was the hard part). The slide is heavy (durable) and smooth, the tone is bright, slightly tinny but not too much so. A good instrument for the price.

novice player

Comments about Jupiter 314L Soprano Trombone - Slide Trumpet:

I have recently began playing again, and the Suprano Slide Trumpet is fun and challenging. As a trombone player, this unit is really fun and brings a lot of laughs (probably my playing and comments). The only pproblem is that the bell won't tighten at the slide, to keep the unit stationary, bell wants to slip, the slide took some work to get it fully smooth as glass, there was some debri inside the outer slide that had to be snaked out, it looked like soder burrs, caused some friction. otherwise it is fine and fun

This is a nice horn for woodwind players who might like to tinker with brass. Slide trumpet/soprano trombone long overdue at this price.

Impresive

Comments about Jupiter 314L Soprano Trombone - Slide Trumpet:

For an alto trombone, it is one of the better values. As far as tonality, I believe it is better than others, and the yellow brass gives it an impressive look. Its a good buy overall.

Amazing Quality, Amazing Price

By TheBumTrombone

Comments about Jupiter 314L Soprano Trombone - Slide Trumpet:

I received this horn for christmas and can't put it down. The design of this horn is ingenious. They managed to include a tuning slide (its where the slide half connects to the bell half) and also a mini slide lock. It has a crisp tone and an extremely smooth slide. Well worth the money. The only thing I would recommend is that if you are switching from a regular trombone to this horn then I would get a trumpet size 3c mouthpiece due to its wider rim making it easier to play.

I have played one before, and it is good quality, and it plays a trumpet register. Great for either a trombone player or a trumpet player.

my kind of bone

By craig freely

Comments about Jupiter 314L Soprano Trombone - Slide Trumpet:

i've been playing trombone for 2 years in middle school bnad now and this is my first brand new trombone. It plays 100 times easier than my old rusty trombone. The slide is very smooth and the sound is very bold. Best part about this bone? the value. It's absolutly the best for the money. I highly recomend
