OVERVIEW

A full-bodied, warm bronze snare for the musical drummer.

Gretsch USA Custom Bronze snare drums are an extremely musical instrument. This particular size tends to be darker in tone yet very melodic and warm at the same time. Yet, however warm and dark this drum is, Gretsch Bronze still has a clear, defined high end and great stick articulation.

The 1mm polished bronze shell also comes with our Micro-Sensitive throw, 42-Strand snare wires, die-cast hoops and a ‘Snap-In’ key holder.

Comments about Gretsch Drums USA Bronze Snare Drum:

After exhaustive research I knew this was the snare drum I wanted. I have previously been the owner of a Gretsch USA 4000 series snare (the 5X14 COB) and I love them all.................my biggest decision was do I want brass, copper or bronze. I went with the bronze and I'm very happy I made that choice.
The 6.5 depth and the 20-lug look are just beautiful...............and I prefer the micro throw above the lightning option. When cranked tight, this drum has incredible tone...................warm and rich.

Comments about Gretsch Drums USA Bronze Snare Drum:

Just blown away with this drum. I have a Ludwig Classic Maple, Tama S.L.P. Aluminum Dry, SJC Steele and this one is a different animal. Sensitivity, Tone, Crack is mouth watering. The adjustability on the butt plate of the snare is great to get varying sensitivities out the drum. The drum is all there(heavy) but the build is top quality. The only issue with the drum is that the spec sheet says it comes with a 42 strand snare wires and when it arrived it only had a 20 strand snare wires. I just ordered the Gretsch Mahogany Swamp Dawg and looking forward to hearing the tone and beef of that drum as well.

Comments about Gretsch Drums USA Bronze Snare Drum:

I never got to actually see one of these snares first hand till I bought one. I liked what I heard online, but had a ton of reservations about buying something sight unseen. There was a backorder when I finally decided to get it, but we'll wor the wait after I figured out the best combo.

At first, the snare was not all that exciting. I didn't feel the reverse dot complemented it well at all. Kinda boingy, for the lack of a better description. I played around with a few heads for a couple of days and found a Remo PS3 to be the ticket. The center dot kinda killed the feel too, but the PS3 was spot on. Nice and sensitive, wide open without "boing." I also felt the 42 strand stock snare was a bit stiff and tough to control, so I put a PureSound 20 on it at first and it was a bit thin. The 30 strand was it though. That was exactly the sound that I was looking for. Nice, deep woody sound with some of the characters of metal.

I have Mapex Sledgehammer and Tama Starphonic Bubinga snares too and I like them all. The Gretsch sits right in the middle between the two with some of the woodiness and deep rich tone of the Bubinga and some of the crack of the Sledgehammer. It'll likely end up as my all around go to snare from this point. Doesn't hurt that it looks amazing too. Very classy and elegant. Well done Gretsch. Now lose the 42 strand snare!
