Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Snare Drum:

Alright, here's the rub. This snare sounds fantastic with even the stock heads; tunes up nicely. The rim shots sound incredible, but I needed to tune this thing right out of the box and tighten the snares. Also, when I opened the box, the top head wasn't seated properly on the bearing edge, but those things are all easy fixes with a drum key (there's one included as well). I got this drum for about 50 smackers, and it is well worth even the full price on here. I tuned it higher and the attack is right where I like it. It's maple, so there is no obnoxious ring, but just enough sustain/crack to give you goosebumps. The reviewer who noted "quiet" as a calm obviously doesn't have dynamic control, because this thing is very responsive for loud and soft dynamics. If you're in the market for a fantastic intermediate snare, this is for you. I gave it 4 stars due to the rim/head being seated wrong and for the lack of effort on the manufacturer's part when preparing the drum for the customer. All-in-all, great buy, and highly recommended.

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Snare Drum:

First of all, the chestnut ash finish looks 100 times better in person than the photo on MF. I bought mine at Guitar Center and love it. I play in a pop/punk band so i wanted something with a nice controlled tight pop to it and this snare delivered exactly what I was looking for. The only downside I have found is that it is a little quieter than other 14" snare drums I have had in the past. But besides that, it's great

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Snare Drum:

I bought this cause I wanted a smaller snare between my legs and wanted a nice poppy sound. Oh and it was on sale for one fifty. I noticed when I got it how heavy it was(not a bad thing). The only con was that it came not tuned. I had to completely de-tune it and tune it.

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Snare Drum:

I love this snare, my drum set is nothing fancy just a cb (SP) kit that looks about 20 yrs old, maybe older, it sounds alright with the heads I got for it. For the longest time I just had the basic generic snare that came with it with its original head. I bought zildjian cymbal pack at the nearest guitar center and they gave me this snare with it for free. The pack actually just had a sign that said comes with free snare. I had no idea what snare it came with, must have just been a local special. But when I saw it I new I had found a steal. When I got to my band room I fell in love! And the cymbals were great too, my original cymbals sounded like trash cans. Anyways this is a good price for the snare because the price tag on mine says four-hundred $$$ If I had to buy it again id probably get it from here.

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Snare Drum:

Great snare for the price. I had to change the batter head, as the stock head sounded thin. Changed to the Evans ST Dry and snare really gained a warm, thicker sound.
