The best ride ever !!!

By Ilia

from Moscow, Russia

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

Hi! I own this cymbal. It is a real marvel. I've heard particularly this main sound of body and bell in my mind and this cymbal has it. It has a strong cutting bell, quiet ping sound and full dark crashing sound. For large clubs and different open-airs I prefer using something from AA, AAX or Zil's Avedis for more cut, but in the studio only HH RBDR. I recommend this cymbal to everyone who want to get the most versatile ride cymbal from Sabian. It is a very beautiful ride.

Great cymbal, try the AA version as well

By Anonymous

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

I tried this cymbal and thought highly of it, certainly the bell sounds great. But I found the overtones when riding hard were too harsh for my tastes. I ended up getting the AA version of this cymbal, which also had a great bell soound, good articulation, and warmer overtones when driven. It was also $120 less (though I thought they were the same price when I decided to buy - so that tells you I thought the AA was great). So at the very least try both if you can.

The ride I was looking for

By drumsolo86

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

Finally this came into the shop. I come from Singapore, where the main Sabian dealer here does not bring in many pieces of this famed HH RBDR. I managed to find this right at the bottom of all the stacked Sabian rides on display. I knew I had to sell my guitar just to land a deposit on this baby. The sound is just incredible. When Sabian said high-definition sticking sound, they sure got it right. The bell is very original sounding, and when you starting hitting the bell with the centre than the tip, you have that famous sounding bell you've probably heard on how many countless albums. It's one of the best, versatile rides in the market now, be sure to grab it.

The essence of perfection in a ride cymbal.

By Goober2k7

from Texas

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

I would suggest playing these in a local music shop before buying them, from my experience each Hand Hammered has it's own characteristic and pitch. That is to be expected. The one I managed to discover mixed perfectly with my paired A Fast Crash and A Medium Thin while still allowing my A Mastersound Hats to have their own amount of projection. It's the perfect addiction to my set, typo intended. The bell is original sounding while still musical and somewhat harsh, the wash is very slow building and can be controlled to project or to remain at a level that stays below set volume. The ping is perfect for every genre of music aside from maybe country. Again, the essence of perfection in a ride cymbal!

Great

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

The bell is to die for, wont find any other like it. great sticking definition. not good for real hard/agressive riding, gets kind of washed out. But the bell and butter-y sticking are well worth it. Used by john blackwell (prince) and Jose Pastilla (incubus)

Musical, Magical...

By GroundZero-V8MdJ

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

It seems to me that most ride cymbals-even high end models-have pretty wimpy stick definition in relation to the amount of wash they produce. This cymbal seems to be designed to produce the opposite effect. And This is exactly what I was looking for in a versatile ride cymbal.Strike it and it produces clear and tight stick articulation, which can really be HEARD over the top of a low, cool, "vintage" sounding wash. A shoulder strike across the bow produces a beautiful accent, which I find an awesome way to add character to any groove. The unlathed bell is strong and clear, making bell accents sound just the way they should.Musical, Magical, maybe a little on the quiet side (the only reason I did not give it a 5.0 rating for "Features")But honestly, if you play this ride with the right nuances, the cymbal will play WITH you.

Simply The Best

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

I've played a lot of ride cymbals, but this one beats them all. The rest of my setup is all zildjian Z-Customs, but the ride just didn't hit the spoy. This one absolutely blew me away. The price was not cheap, but it beats others in its price range. I have no regrets about buying this cymbal.

Not What You'd Expect

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

When I first bought this ride, I thought it had too much wash in it. That is until I played it with the full kit. I can barely hear any wash, exaclty what I needed.

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

My Church has this ride cymbal, and let me say, it is one of the most amazing rides I have EVER heard in my drumming hobby, let alone life.I must say, I am not one for crashing this though, I love the bell sound though, it actually sounds like an actual bell as in zilbel or icebell. That is if you hit it with the tip of your stick! Overall it is a 7 stars out of 5! mhm thats how good it is!

Most Versatile Ride Ever

By VersatileDrumboy

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

I've had this cymbal for a few weeks now, and it has begun to irk me--because my other cymbals sounded like crap compared to it. (So I ended up having to replace other cymbals.) You can get so many sounds out of this cymbal depending upon where you hit it; for instances, on the bow, it can either have a dry, clean, and high "click" or it can have a warm, dark, wash with not so much stick definition near the edge of the bow. The bell . . . wow, this bell is great. If you hit the bell with the tip of a stick, it cuts through any tone, but it's not over-powering; if you, however, start banging on the bell with either the neck or the shaft, then you have one nasty bell that no one can ignore. Because of all the different tones, you can use this for any style . . . well, maybe not metal. Every product rating gets a 10 except the value. It is pricey, but if you can afford it, buy this cymbal.

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

When I first bought this cymbal I was a bit under impressed, but as I played it, it began to grow on me. Now it is my favorite cymbal. It has just the right feel to it and the sound is very dark. The bell also produces one of the best pings ive ever heard. Definitely a cymbal worth having.

UNBELIEVABLE.........

By Anonymous

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

Just got this thing and let me tell you, it sounds EXACTLY like the sound files on Sabian's site. Don't know what people are talking about saying you cannot crash this thing.......it is wonderful. I'm going to use it on a jazz gig. The volume of the ping is silvery and probably not meaty enough to cut thru grindcore guitars but it's bell sure is. Almost bought a K Hybrid........glad I didn't now.......amazing........oohh, I should mention for a heavier cymbal, it has AMAZING feel.....feels like a softer ride which for us groove drummers is a godsend. Well done, Sabian.

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

I sent an email to one of the best drummers out there, Flo Mounier, and I asked him what to get that meets my music style. He told me to et this one. Man was he right! This cymbal is awesome. Flo uses it for Grind metal, but I use it for stoner rock. Its very versatile! Great ping from the bell and great response from edge riding. BUY IT!

    Sabian Raw Bell Dry Ride

    By Eric-VypOz

    from Bloomington, IN

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

This is an awesome cymbal for alot of styles. For funk, its got the sweetest bell you'll ever find. There are very warm dark sounds on the outside edge, and increasingly brighter tones as you move up the ride. The stick response is beautiful, it crashes really well. The only negatives I've had is for acoustic jazz gigs, this cymbal is not as dark as some quiet gigs call for. But it is a great jazz cymbal all around, you just might need to adjust how you play it in lower level stuff. The other thing is, I played in a gospel choir with an older make of this cymbal, and it was dark, warm, bright, and the bell was big, beautiful, harsh, and melodic at the same time. This new version has not as much dark, warm sounds, and the bell on mine seems tuned lower and is less melodic and nice sounding. It's still a sweeet bell, the best I think. Basically I recomend going and playing on a new one and an old one if you can find it, each cymbal is different so you may be able to find that perfect one.

    Fantastic Cymbal

    By maggot_001

Comments about Sabian HH Series Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:

I just bought this cymbal, and all I can say is wow! I chose this cymbal after trying EVERY cymbal in the local store- I mean the Paistes and everything, and this cymbal was the one. The bell on this cymbal is KILLER and so freakin' loud and piercing, and the bow is pretty pingy, has good stick definition, and a bit of wash. The wash does build up over time if you ride real fast, but it doesn't bother me because it's not too much of an issue, and seems to just make the ride louder over other instruments. Anyway, this is a great cymbal overall, and highly recommended by me!
