Since 1976, EMG has been producing guitar pickups. Originally intended to provide even string-to-string response and enhanced bandwidth over traditional pickups, EMG pickups were used in the original Steinberger guitars. As the guitars became more widely known, so did the pickups. EMG’s reputation quickly grew, especially among players who wanted pickups that would drive racks full of effects. As the popularity of EMG pickups grew, so did the variety. EMG added passive pickups, traditional pole-piece designs and a range of accessories to their line. Today, EMG continues to be an innovator in guitar sound.
