Credit card authorizations

What is a credit card authorization?

An authorization is a 5-6 digit code that used between merchants and banks to validate, hold, and collect payment on a specified amount. .

Upon submitting an order we will collect an authorization from your bank for the order total. This authorization places a hold on the funds for the amount of the purchase. At this time, the money is still technically in your account however the authorization has placed these funds aside. You will not be able to access or withdraw these funds, which ensure the merchant can collect payment after the order has been fulfilled. If you review your online bank statement you will usually see authorization holds listed as a pending transaction.

Once your order has been fulfilled we will settle the sale and request payment from your bank. With the authorization already being in place the bank is aware of the transaction and will release the funds for payment. When this happens, the authorization hold is removed from pending transactions and is re-listed as a posted transaction.
