OVERVIEW

A stunning guitar with an ebony fretboard and signature Lace Sensor pickups.

ESP is proud to announce that Bill Kelliher of world-renowned American metal band Mastodon has joined their family of endorsed artists. But equally big news is the introduction of two new Signature Series models: the ESP Bill Kelliher and the LTD BK-600 on offer here.

“Working with ESP has been a breath of fresh air,” says Bill. “When I first set eyes on this guitar, I couldn’t wait to play this mean-looking weapon of sound. After plugging it in and cranking it up, I couldn’t put it down. What a great piece of work!”

“We are beyond proud to have a guitarist who is as universally respected as Bill in our artist roster,” says Chris Cannella, ESP director of artist relations. “Mastodon is a consistent favorite among fellow musicians and fans, crossing multiple genres of metal with an appeal that’s like no other band. Bill is a great representative of an ideal ESP player. We’re completely stoked to have him onboard.”

The new ESP Bill Kelliher and LTD BK-600 are single-cutaway designs that employ a mahogany body with a traditional full thickness, and no waist cut. The three-piece mahogany neck is joined to the body with set-thru construction at 24.75” scale for smooth and comfortable fast access to the upper frets. The guitars feature an ebony fingerboard with pearloid “ESP Flag” inlays and 22 frets, as well as binding on the body, neck, and headstock.

Bill’s new Signature Series guitars are powered by two of his own signature Lace Sensor “Dissonant Aggressor“ pickups, a sonically versatile humbucker set with excellent dynamic response, sustain, and tone. The guitars also feature locking tuners and a TonePros locking bridge. Both are being made available in a distinctive Military Green Sunburst Satin finish.

Comments about ESP LTD Bill Kelliher BK-600 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is even better looking in person. The fit and finish is flawless on this thing. Not an imperfection on it. The gloss black hardware against the matte black and green finish is beautiful. The pickups surprisingly are not very hot. They are medium output with a smooth sound. Almost as if the treble is scooped a bit. The best way I can describe them is that they sound smooth and not harsh or brash like my 498t in my Les paul. Individual notes sound nice and thick with high gain and pinch harmonics are easy to squeeze out but they are very quiet in comparison to my Les paul which squeals super loud. Obviously I would attribute this to the pickups not being as trebley as the Gibsons. The frets are also perfectly smooth and finished nicely on the edges and not sharp at all. The neck is a tad slimmer than my Les paul studio and feels very nice in the satin finish.

The only reason I give this guitar 4 instead of 5 stars is because the guitar arrived to me with the worst set up of any guitar I have ever purchased. The strings buzzed on every single fret and literally fretted out across the entire first fret. It was completely unusable before a trussrod and action adjustment. It's a simple enough fix and I'm sure there will be plenty of people saying you should expect to have to get a set up with every new guitar but I disagree. I think that for just under a grand any instrument should be set up nicely and be ready to play straight out of the box. It's embarrassing to think that these guitars are set up and inspected in the USA before they are shipped out which means Americans can't do as good of a job as the Indonesians who set up my jackson perfectly or the Mexicans who set up my charvel perfectly in the factory before it was shipped to me. I guess this is a testament to the American work ethic. Either way expect to set this guitar up or have it set up and you won't be disappointed.

This is a great sounding and playing, beautiful guitar. Get it
