Got a level 1 mint on this while it was on sale that made the price even lower. Best 4 bills I've spent on a guitar in a while. Only problem when I received was that in the bridge only position, both pickups were still on. I know a bit about guitars, so I opened the cover to the 3 way switch and found that some solder was making connection where it should not. So I used a small flat head screwdriver and pried between the two and separated this connection and just like that I have a fully functional guitar.
The fretwork is perfect. Many of these South Korean made guitars are made very well. Smooth satin neck makes changing fingering positions effortless. I like emgs, but already have a few guitars with them, so this one may end up with some Dimarzio Norton's or SD Distortions-the Mayhem set. Not sure yet. Either way has everything else I would want: mahogany body with maple top, extra jumbo frets with 12 inch radius, and grover tuners. Great guitar, it's a keeper. I once had a Will Adler camo guitar like this one and always missed the fretwork and how the neck felt. Glad to have another EC-401 in my hands again.

I bought this guitar because it was on sale at guitar center last just because it looked cool and had alot of extras like the grover tuners and emg pickups and set neck. Well.....all that is very cool if you can get a guitar to stay in tune for at least one song and I couldn't find anyone that could adjust the neck to kill the fret buzz without paying alot of money to have the frets reworked. Maybe I just got a lemon or maybe thats why the guitar was on sale to begin with.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401QM Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my 11 year old son. He is a huge fan of heavy metal...Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden. His first guitar was the Fender Squire and was looking to move to a guitar that would take advantage of his style.
He fully researched Fender, Gibson/Epiphone SG, Les Paul and Dinky's. He fell in love with this guitar which is somewhat lighter than the competitors. He loves the active pick ups but he is not used to the heavier strings. This guitar fit my budget and he will be happy for a long time. I highly recommend.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401QM Electric Guitar:

Right out of the box this thing is killer. Nice work on the frets. Beautiful finish and great cleans and the overdrive tones are superb. I've owned countless guitars over the years and this thing is probably one of the best. I've owned good low budget guitars up to the really high end stuff and given the price you can't beat this guitar.

I play in a metal band, and this thing just plays ridiculously great. Love everything about it. The sound is thick and rich with lots of dynamic range and clarity. The EMG 60 is a little noisy, but that's alright.

This guitar is exceptionally built and absolutely incredible to look at. I am quite impressed with its sound clarity when playing with a high amount of distortion. It is fun to play, with that crisp ESP sound to it. I highly recommend this guitar.

I think for the money that this is a solid guitar. I am an avid guitar player. To me this is a good sounding, good playing guitar. The neck to me is just right, and the playability as well. I don't think you would be disappointed if you purchased this guitar!

Comments about ESP LTD EC-401QM Electric Guitar:

First, the good. The guitar looks great, fit and finish are very nice. It is not very heavy. The neck is thin and fast. The action is very low making it easy to make any chord. If you are looking for a guitar to play heavy metal, then this is it. It sounds amazing with a lot of distortion.

The not so good. This guitar is for playing heavy metal and rock and that is about it. It is great at that, but don't expect to be able to get any smooth tones out of this for anything else. If you want to be able to play all types of music then you should spend about the same amount of money and buy an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro. I have one and I prefer everything about it over the LTD. The Epiphone sounds awesome playing heavy metal, but also sounds great with all other types of music. If you really want a great deal then you should buy a Mitchell MD400. It is limitless like the Epiphone, but costs less.

Awesome guitar easy to play, comes with good strings.Nice and light weight, the color is darker than the picture but is still nice.It doesn't have the model number on the 12th fret but esp said they are no longer doing that, now they put it on the truss rod plate.

Fwiw, my experience is limited to being an "experienced beginner", not quite a low level intermediate. This guitar plays great and came set up decently with no obvious flaws in finish or quality. I believe it may be on sale because of problems with the finish color. Mine is beautiful, but definitely not the color described. The back is black, but the front is very greenish with off-white, yellowish binding. I love it, but if you are set on the color as described you could be disappointed if the whole batch is like this.

Very nice high quality guitar. Very good value at the price point. This guitar plays and sounds very well. I do think it would be more comfortable with a 12in radius fretboard as opposed to the 14in radius that it has, but that is just preference. This is my first guitar with EMG pickups but I think they sound good both clean and distorted. I would definitely recommend this guitar and this brand (Esp LTD).

Great guitar and its a dream to play, and amazing sound. However, the specs on the guitar are not all correct as you can see in my pros and cons. Mainly the neck is not a 12 it is a 14 inch radius. Over all a killer guitar though so I give it 5 stars.
