A solidbody electric guitar with alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard and two single-coil pickups.
The Fender 60th Anniversary Jaguar recreates a groundbreaking guitar with impeccable attention to detail. Making its debut in 1962, the Jaguar was the first to offer truly enhanced electronics. This version maintains the rhythm and tone circuits that are eminently tweakable, the same smooth-action tremolo and body construction as the original. All of us at Musician's Friend found it irresistible to pick up and difficult to put down. There's a lot to love about the Jaguar, so let's dig in to this animal.
A short-scale neck makes the Jaguar easier to play
An inch and a half can make a big difference. While the Stratocaster and Tele have a 25.5" scale length, the Jaguar comes in at 24". As a result, it takes less tension to tune strings up to pitch. That contributes to a slinkier feel that's easier on your hands, especially when it comes to bending. A rosewood fretboard graces the maple neck, a classic combination that can't be beat.
The Jaguar offers limitless sounds
Fender wires the Jaguar today just as it did in the past. While it might appear complicated, the layout is actually intuitive. When the Rhythm switch is activated, all tonal manipulation is on the top control plate. In lead mode, everything is down below. Engage the "strangle" switch to reduce the bass for more jangle. The 60th Anniversary single coils are a particular standout.
The body is built for comfort
Admit it—there's something about an offset body guitar that's just plain sexy. While it might have been seen as wild and weird in 1962, players like Elvis Costello, Thurston Moore, Rivers Cuomo and Kurt Cobain made it mainstream. The 60th Anniversary Jaguar keeps up the historic connection with alder construction and a nitrocellulose finish. Another benefit of the Jaguar: it balances perfectly on a strap.
The Fender 60th Anniversary Jaguar is left-of-center in the right way
All of us at Musician's friend jumped at a chance to play this Jaguar, and we think you will, too. It comes with a 60th Anniversary neckplate, along with a hardshell case baring the same design.
