I purchased this 3/4 size guitar to start an 8-year old grandson in learning the basics of guitar. It is important that young fingers do not feel a lot of pain or they will quickly tire of practicing.
I put a set of light gauge strings on it right out of the box and that helped a great deal.
The guitar is well made and is perfect as a starter instrument.

Nice sound, but unfortunately the intonation was painfully off, more on some strings than others. I tried two guitars, same problem.

Comments about Fender MA-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar on halloween for an upcoming camping trip and just to have and use anywhere I go because it's so small. The place I bought it from adjusted the neck a bit and tuned it and I brought it home. It's pretty much been welded to my chest ever since then. I changed the strings to elixirs so I didn't have to worry about gross sounding strings, and it sounds great! It's built well and has pretty woods. Any blemishes in the finish are really hard to find too. That's all I can think of to put, anyway, It's a great guitar and I have no complaints. Would probably be a good first guitar.

I picked one up to kill time in a local shop, and I was impressed. I own a Taylor GS Mini and this is not the same quality guitar, but it had a nice sound and the action was set at a comfortable level. For the [$] sale price, this is a steal.

great guitar for a young person starting out
well constructed and stays in tune
i've bought cheaper children's guitars and they do not stay in tune and they are constructed poorly
          the price is right

Comments about Fender MA-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Acoustic Guitar:

I ordered this as to be a little travel guitar that I would use here and there, but I like it so much, I use it more than my Jasmine Dreadnaught.

I expected it to sound pretty tinny, not super warm or mellow or the way an acoustic guitar should sound, but it sounds great. The intonation almost spot-on right out of the box. It comes in a gig bag and includes a truss-rod wrench, which is awesome. Didn't even think something this inexpensive would have a truss rod, but that's a very nice feature.

It only has one strap button, but I bought a Mandolin Strap from Guitar Center and tied a snowboarding boot lace from one hole to the headstock, right under the strings. It's actually very comfortable, especially because this guitar is so light.

I love the satin finish, and the wood is good-looking, too. I had never heard of Agathis before I got this guitar, but I think they should use it in more guitars. When you hit a string, you can feel the ENTIRE guitar vibrate - a true sign of a well-built guitar.

I'd reccomend this for sure if you're trying to learn guitar and want something nice, or if you've been playing for years (like myself) and just want a little guitar for camping of jamming in a car or something. It says "Small scale for small hands" but the fretboard isn't much smaller than a normal guitar at all. Very comfortable to play, but just small enough that a 12 year old or so wouldn't have trouble with it.

Comments about Fender MA-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Acoustic Guitar:

I wanted a smaller guitar to practice on and had heard of the baby Martins and mini Taylors. I had visited a large guitar chain store to hear each of them and was not impressed enough with their tone to purchase.

Then I saw MA-1 was a steel-string mini. My full-size is a Fender and I love the tone of it. So I figured I would take a chance on the Fender mini. I absolutely love this little guitar.

Holds tune wonderfully. Small, lightweight but stylish. The tone rivals a bigger guitar. I love that it doesn't sound 'tinny' with the steel strings.

At this price, if you are in the market for a mini, this is the way to go.

At 41 years old I am picking up a guitar for the first time...a dream I have had for years. After much consideration I chose this Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String. Fender is reputable, it's a travel/lighter guitar, it had other really good reviews everywhere, price. The guitar is beautiful and did not need much tuning right out of the box. It sounds great....I love the vibration. I ordered my guitar on a Fri. and had it the following Thurs. (free shipping)

Comments about Fender MA-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Acoustic Guitar:

Great buy, the natural wood is beautiful. The agathis top actually has a nice tone to it, despite the wood's negative reputation. The neck is comfortable and the frets are not cutters.
The tuners are a little cheap but do better than expected holding tune, especially with the way I bend.
If you wanted a little Martin or baby Taylor but lacked the funds, this here is right up there for a budget.

For the nay sayers, you are not going to get the tone of a full size dreadnought acoustic guitar out of these, they are much smaller and therefore the tone will be "smaller" as a result. These sound great, feel good, they're fun, portable, comfortable, and pretty.

I purchased this instrument for a 10 yr. old girl student of mine and I was very impressed with the guitar. It is perfect for small hands and fingers and, truly I think it will be a perfect instrument for her for many years to come. I checked it over when it arrived to make sure everything was good to go B4 she gets it. All I had to do was tune it and, that's it. I played it for awhile and, I really enjoyed it myself ! It came with a gig bag and , it was OK but nothing to rave about, all the money was put into the guitar which is the way it should be.

Nice little guitar. I've been playing for a year and originally had a full sized Yamaha. I'm quite petite, so a full size guitar is really awkward. I found this guitar and it completely changed my practice! I've really enjoyed it thus far. I broke my first string doing some weird tuning (lol), so it's out of commission at the moment, but I have recommended it to several people looking for a good starter guitar. It sounds pretty good for the price.

Nice sound, but unfortunately the intonation was painfully off, more on some strings than others. I tried two guitars, same problem.

It is a good feeling guitar. I bought it for my daughter to start learning on and it fits her hands well. I am sure that ounce the strings get broken in it will stay in tune better, or I may go to a different style of strings, all and all, not a bad guitar for the price.

(free shipping).

Bought this for my 6 yr. old grandson. I'm really impressed with it's quality. Fretboard is smooth,
set-up is very low. Stays in tune very well, really a solid starter guitar. Only lacks a little in tone though. Easy to play, so it should keep his interest in it.
                              (BTW, I've played for 40yrs.+)

Comments about Fender MA-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Acoustic Guitar:

Playing a guitar has been on my bucket list for a while. I finally decided to purchase a new guitar so it would have a good warranty to cover anything unexpected. I had another brand in mind but I finally chose this brand and this guitar. It arrived very quickly and in great condition. It was well packaged. Upon opening the boxes to get to the guitar I happened to notice the absence of a pick guard. There were none included like in an accessory package. Looking at it further I noticed that there was only one button to connect the strap to. Thinking maybe I had a bad product I contacted Fender about it. This model MA-1 does NOT have a pick guard. None was intended for it. Fender did tell me however if I added a pick guard and it affected the guitar negatively in any way that I had terminated the warranty. But if a certified Fender technician put it on that the warranty would stand. Then I brought up that there was only one strap button on the guitar. "Of course" he said, "You have to tie a string around the top of the nut and loop it through the hole in the strap." That sounds a bit old fashioned to me. I asked would it be an issue if I installed a strap button at the bigger end of the neck? He tells me that you will void your warranty if you do that. The wood could split or affect the glue joint in some way. My thoughts now are how will the Gold Warranty I bought respond to me doing either of those two upgrades myself?
