OVERVIEW

Powered by a pair of chrome-covered humbucking pickups.

Inspired by the Pacific Ocean, the lustrous FSR Standard Telecaster HH Sea Foam Pearl is a tribute to the Telecaster guitar’s origin in California. With its unique aesthetic style, this is the perfect instrument for the stage—the one-of-a-kind finish shines under the spotlight with the glow of a moonlight ocean. Its exceptional style, thick voice and easy playability are sure to please those who like their music like the sea—mysterious and deep.

Powered by a pair of chrome-covered humbucking pickups, this Telecaster has a slightly thicker, deeper voice than usual, while retaining authentic Fender note clarity and articulation. Master volume and tone controls, along with a three-way blade pickup switch sculpt the pickup’s voice for titanic waves of sound that can be shaped to match any musical genre.

The comfortable modern “C”-shaped neck is comfortable during long playing sessions while the 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets provides a easy, familiar playing feel that handles chords and melodic playing with ease. A 6-saddle string-through-body hardtail bridge provides singing sustain along with accurate intonation and rock-solid tuning stability.

The warm, rich look of the fingerboard contrasts beautifully with the crisp FSR Sea Foam Pearl finish over an alder body. Other aesthetic touches include chrome hardware, skirted control knobs and a dual-wing string tree. A study in restrained elegance, the FSR Standard Telecaster HH Sea Foam Pearl is a gorgeous, luminescent addition to any player’s collection.

Like many folks, I have a Strat and Les Paul. So very much can be accomplished with either. Still, I was looking for that 25.5 scale with Humbuckers. This is a comfortable guitar, really nicely made and has a humbucker sound- with the longer scale length that I have grown fond of. Fender rolled out a line of Standard Tele's last year with the HH config. I went to a couple of places and checked them out. The string placement on the fret board and general construction left me wanting, so I waited. Honestly, I like this baby much more than those standards that I played. If my playing ever gets so smokin' hot that I just have to replace the pickups - because they were holding me back, then I guess I might. Until then, the tone is mostly in the hands, and that is where my real work is needed.
oh, I did replace the string tree with the type that is used on the Fender standards. The vintage wing tree just was not getting the job done well.

First let me say that I have been dealing with MF for many years. I have spent, literally, thousands with them. I have never had an issue with any order, until now.
1.) The guitar came in a single flimsy box. It was not double boxed as is should have been, and has always been in the past. One good hit and the guitar would have been severely damaged.
2} The hex head wrench sent with the guitar to adjust the saddles, does not fit in the screws. It is too large. I had one in my tool box that fit, but that's just plain poor QC on Fenders part.
2} The guitar came out of intonation, and the strings were too high. This is to be expected and it is no big deal. However, when I went to intonate the guitar a few of the screws would not turn. The G string especially was so hard that the saddle flipped over when I turned the screw. I had to take the strings and saddles off and work the screws back and forth with lubricant in order to get it turn correctly. The bridge is a cheap piece of junk in my opinion. It will be changed out.
3.) A couple of the tuners slip when tightening them up. The tuners feel cheap to me also, unlike the Mexican tele I got just last week, and compared to the numerous MIM teles that I have owned in the past. May just be a bad set of tuners on this one guitar but added to the other issues, one has to wonder if this was not just a economy run by Fender for MF.
4.) The pickups are less than inspiring for humbuckers. Neck and middle positions produce somewhat muddy sounds, while the bridge pickup is not bad. Pickups have to go too.
OK, so to sum it up, in order for me to be happy with this guitar I will have to change the tuners, the bridge, and the pickups. I will put the time and money into the guitar because I like the configuration and the feel of the guitar, and it's also a nice looking guitar. But,....if you are not a DIY guitar junkie, I would think twice about this one.

Comments about Fender Special Edition HH Maple Fingerboard Standard Telecaster:

Nice guitar. Smooth satin finish neck, plays great. Set up perfectly out of the box. I prefer my Teles with humbuckers and these sound great. Looks sharp, too. Replaced the black pickguard with a white one. Makes it look even better. Great guitar at a good price.

Comments about Fender Special Edition HH Maple Fingerboard Standard Telecaster:

Have had this for a couple months + and it is a great sounding guitar. I had an original 72" Thinline with wide range humbuckers and this guitar with the standard humbuckers sounds just as good, without reservation. The belly contour and looks, are great assets. Don't let the MIM fool you. This is a 100% quality Tele and plays just as great as the 5 American Teles I have owned. Fender Mexico is turning out some great guitars at great prices. It did need a little set up with the intonation which a luthier friend of mine took care of. I play this guitar ahead of my American Special Telcaster which in it's own right is a fantastic guitar. The Sea Foam Pearl is a real eye catcher with audiences. Grab one of these while they are available!

Comments about Fender Special Edition HH Maple Fingerboard Standard Telecaster:

Let me say up front that I am a semi-professional musician who owns several custom guitars and believe me when I say if I changed the Made In Mexico decal to Made In the USA and told you it cost $1200, you'd agree that there isn't much difference at all between this MIM FSR Tele and many U.S. models. This FSR Tele features a nice body contour/belly cut that ramps up the comfort factor, which was already pretty good since the guitar only weights about 7.5 lbs. Now factor in a super comfy modern "C" neck with a 9.5" radius, a super smooth satin neck and a fast polyester gloss maple fingerboard and you've got yourself a pretty sweet Tele. As with many Fender guitars, this one comes from the factory with a set of extra light strings .009-.042. Normally, I put .010's on all of my guitars, but the feel on this guitar was so easy and slinky, plus it was set up and intonated perfectly out of the box and the sound did not suffer because of the lighter gauge strings, so I decided to keep using the .009's. That's a personal choice, so anyone that prefers a higher gauge can certainly switch. Soundwise, the humbuckers are obviously fatter and chunkier sounding than traditional single coil Tele PUPs, but Fender did a nice job of voicing them to retain enough of that familiar Tele sound, which can be dialed up even further by backing off on the volume knob a little. I am well aware that MIM Fenders can be hit or miss (Lord knows I've had my issues with them), but all I can tell you is this FSR Tele was pretty much flawless right out of the box and it looks and plays like a dream. The only changes I'm going to make are to replace the black pickguard with a white one (just my aesthetic preference) and swap the standard Fender tuners for a set of Fender locking tuners (because I'm lazy and hate winding strings when I change them). Otherwise, you've got a comfortable guitar that'll work for almost any type of music except for metal.

Picked this Tele up on an open box deal and could not been more pleased with it.I have a couple of Straits and had been looking to replace a Telecaster I had regrettably sold years ago. It sounded great straight out of the box aside from needing a bit of tuning.

This guitar plays fantastic right out of the box, the set up was perfect and the tone is crisp and clean. The neck is smooth as butter and the humbuckers are a nice touch for a telecaster. The seafoam pearl finish is really something else, but you have to see it in person to really get that. It's one sexy axe. I have not been able to put this guitar down since I got it. I have played some really nice american made fenders and I have to say, this MIM is just as good. Quality axe, for a great price! Seriously, this is as close to an american made fender as I've ever seen, for a fraction of the price!

Comments about Fender Special Edition HH Maple Fingerboard Standard Telecaster:

To give you an example of this guitar's durability, I bought one of these "scratch n' dent" for almost half off retail. Not expecting a "new guitar day" experience at all, because of it's low discount, I was rather surprised when this guitar showed up, because looking at the outer box, the package was clearly banged up and scraped pretty good, but when unwrapping the guitar, turns out it only had a few tiny knicks and a little scuff on the back. Everything else was in great shape and electronics were solid. No damage that affected play-ability whatsoever. I tend to play more heavier rock styles but this guitar's stock pickups are geared towards a more classic rock/bluesy style in my opinion. Pickups can always be swapped for higher output pups if you'd prefer. Plays just as good as my American strat. Only huge difference on an American is the neck feels a little more smooth and rounded out but after a day of playing this one, you won't even care, it plays so good! Moral of the story is....It's a Standard Fender! They are amazing guitars for the price.

Comments about Fender Special Edition HH Maple Fingerboard Standard Telecaster:

I played one of these in a guitar shop and really liked it for fooling around with, a guitar I could take places and not worry if it got banged up and used by others. I bought an open box, slightly blemished one from MF. It is otherwise in beautiful shape, but buyer beware - these MIM Tele's aren't really for professional playing and recording - at least not with a bit of luthier/DIY updating and adjusting.

Out of the box, there's a lot of fret buzz. I needed to file the nut, adjust the string height and intonate it. I will need to remove the neck, level the frets, crown them, and file the sharp edges. The finish on the back of the neck was poorly done, so I'll need to refinish the neck too. The machines are cheap so these will get replaced.

The humbuckers are the low point. Very muddy and overwhelmingly fat. To get any decent treble bite out of these pickups, you'll need to have a good tube amp and set the treble and midtone knobs to 10 and set the bass to 0. At these settings, the pickups have a pretty cool growl to them, so I do not plan to replace them. The volume/tone knobs are super cheap, so these will get replaced too. The electronics are OK. I was thinking about upgrading everything under the hood, but I've decided to keep it the way it is.

If you have the ability to upgrade/refinish/adjust your own guitars, you can actually turn this beginner's guitar into one worthy of playing in front of an audience. The color of the 'surf-green' is truly beautiful.

I did not buy this guitar new, i bought it from the scratch and dent and i usually get a good guitar with a few scratches, but this one was beat up with dents everywhere which was fine i seen most of the damage in the photos. When i was setting up intonation i couldn't get the string down to the 4/64 spacing Fender recommends, The strings would buzz up and down the neck everywhere. So i shimmed the neck with a .010 shim like Fender says to do. It didn't help at all. I noticed the nut was not filed down to specs either so i fix that, but it didn't fix what is wrong. The only thing that i think it could be is either the neck pocket is not routed correctly or the heel on the neck is not level. The strings are still about 1/32 too high. I have set up more guitars than i can remember, but this one is just out of spec.

Can't remember the last time I was so pleased with an instrument, this guitar is perfect, feels like any other american standard and for that price I think every guitar player should try this MIM tele. I will definitely buy this guitar over and over again,it has a perfect clean sound, I barely use reverb or delay pedals since the natural clean sound is so perfect. Is a intense experience if you are into the Fender sound and for jazz, blues, rock and experimental/psychedelic this is the perfect fit.

I'm just relearning the guitar and have always wanted a Sea-foam tele, so when I saw these go on-sale, I jumped on it. Been a fabulous guitar from day 1. I upgraded the electronics, added chrome rings and swapped out the black pickguard for an aged white to give it a more vintage look. Other than that I've been playing the snot out of it. The humbuckers give a solid, smooth tone in a 3 positions. Can't wait to grow into this guitar and pull out of it everything that it's capable of. My only minor critique was several frets past 12 were a little high, causing some string rattle. Once I got that fixed, she's perfect.

The only thing that I had to do was to change the tuners. They were standard tuners and felt a little weak to me. I put on Fender locking tuners, worked on the bridge screws with some lube, and put on new strings. This thing sounds magnificent. The pickups sound good, especially on a quality amp. It's a very pretty, unique color also. I prefer guitars that are not the standard colors. Solid electronics, quite switching, very nice neck. For this price, drop in some locking tuners and you will have a guitar that you won't sell anytime soon.

So... the FedEx man dropped this Telecaster off about an hour ago, and OMG. You know, I tried to find something wrong, anything wrong; I figured it was my job. But I couldn't - nothing - I'm going to have to say this one is perfection. Fit, finish the neck, frets, knobs, I am just so impressed. What a bang for your buck. Sure if you don't care about money - go get a MIA, why would you when you could four of these for the price of one American. I have been playing since 1961 and this is without a doubt as nice a Fender as I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor - get one!

This is my third Mexican Fender product, and like the other two it is a quality instrument.
I am a guitarist with 52 years of playing experience, and this is my third Mexican Fender. . Initial visual impression: WOW! Sea Foam Pearl paint is beautiful. Photo does not do it justice. Playable right out of the box, with a little tuning. Action, and neck adjustment were perfect for me. Intonation very close (I always restring with my preference, so the intonation will be getting adjusted anyway). Plugged it in and played up and down the full fret board. Used all pick-up switch positions. Beautiful tone, and quiet as a mouse. If a humbucker equipped Tele is what you are looking for, BUY IT!
