Overview

Square-shoulder Hummingbird character with a new amplified voice.

A familiar Hummingbird voice gets a more revealing stage presence in the latest Standard refresh, centered on Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA electronics. The Gibson Hummingbird Standard acoustic-electric guitar keeps the square-shoulder recipe focused on a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides and traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing for balanced response across strumming, fingerstyle and accompaniment. Its 24.75" scale, Rounded mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard retain the playing feel that has long defined the model, while mother-of-pearl split-parallelogram inlays add a familiar finishing detail. The signature Hummingbird pickguard, classic binding and nickel hardware preserve the model's established visual identity around its upgraded amplified voice.

Baggs HiFi DNA Electronics for Dynamic, Natural Amplified Tone

The Hummingbird Standard features Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA electronics designed to translate the guitar's natural character with dynamic realism, warmth and tactile immediacy. Two lightweight, flexible sensors mounted to the internal bridge plate respond sensitively to the soundboard without placing an undersaddle pickup between the saddle and bridge, helping preserve the instrument's inherent acoustic voice. Rather than feeding both sensors through a single preamp input, the system processes its High and Low sensors separately through dedicated, custom-voiced all-discrete Class A preamp circuits before blending them into an optimized output. This split-signal design captures greater dynamic range while maintaining clarity, articulation and strong feedback resistance. Discreet volume and tone controls along the soundhole edge provide convenient adjustment while keeping the guitar's appearance clean and its acoustic character front and center.

Sitka Spruce and Mahogany Keep the Voice Balanced

A Sitka spruce top supplies a clear, responsive soundboard, while mahogany back and sides reinforce the Hummingbird Standard's focused midrange and controlled low end. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing gives the top room to respond dynamically, allowing lighter picking to speak clearly while supporting the broader movement of full strumming. The square-shoulder body adds the size and acoustic presence associated with the Hummingbird design, bringing those materials together in a voice that can carry rhythm parts without overwhelming vocals or other instruments. That balance makes the guitar equally useful for songwriting, accompaniment and more assertive flatpicked work.

Rounded Neck and 24.75" Scale Stay Familiar

The mahogany neck uses a Rounded profile and 24.75" scale, paired with a 1.725" TUSQ nut for familiar Gibson acoustic proportions. A 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard carries 20 frets and mother-of-pearl split-parallelogram inlays, keeping the playing surface traditional while providing consistent dimensions from open-position chords through upper-register work. The shorter Gibson scale also works naturally with the Hummingbird's rhythm-oriented character, giving the fretting hand a slightly more compact reach across chord changes and melodic passages without changing the model's familiar overall feel.

Laurel Bridge and Classic Hummingbird Hardware

A traditional belly-up laurel bridge anchors the strings over a TUSQ saddle, maintaining the established bridge format while giving the Hummingbird Standard a durable string-to-top connection. Grover Rotomatic tuners and nickel hardware provide straightforward tuning adjustment at the headstock, complementing the practical hardware layout at the body. The 0.060" Hummingbird pickguard brings the model's instantly recognizable floral-and-bird artwork into that functional package, preserving one of the visual details most closely associated with the Hummingbird name while keeping the refreshed guitar grounded in its established design language.

Classic Hummingbird Appointments Complete the Design

Multi-ply top and back binding, split-parallelogram inlays and the traditional Hummingbird pickguard preserve the model's unmistakable visual identity. Vintage Cherry Sunburst, Vintage Sunburst and Southwestern Turquoise provide three finish directions beneath gloss nitrocellulose lacquer without changing the underlying construction. A Gibson hardshell case is included for transport and storage. For players who want the familiar square-shoulder Hummingbird formula with a more advanced amplified system, the 2026 Hummingbird Standard pairs its established acoustic design with Baggs HiFi DNA electronics.
