Murphy Lab Les Paul Goldtop With 1956 Specs and Light Aging

The 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue is the next closest thing to getting your hands on a genuine original. The historic 1956 Goldtop was the only Les Paul electric to feature both P90 pickups and the ABR-1 bridge. While the following year’s PAF pickups offered more clarity, the big, warm sound of P90 single coils was still a preference for many. Now you can explore the muddy, fat tone of these highly unique pickups with a stunningly accurate 1956 Les Paul Reissue. Featuring a lightweight body, a chunky C neck profile and a smooth rosewood fingerboard, this Goldtop Les Paul has also been very lightly aged to add a touch of detail to your vintage owning experience. The 1956 Goldtop Reissue is available now at Guitar Center.

Lightweight Maple/Mahogany Body

You’ll notice right away that the 1956 Les Paul Reissue is built with the same contours as the legendary original. Built with a mahogany body topped with maple, the ’56 Goldtop is fairly lightweight for a Les Paul. Weighing in at just under 9 lb., it’s easier than ever to pick one up for yourself.

Thick ’50s C Neck

The Gibson Custom reissue of the Les Paul Goldtop sports a period-accurate mahogany neck. A chunky C profile allows you to play for hours in comfort, regardless of your skill level. Just like the original 1956 Les Paul, the neck is topped with a smooth rosewood fingerboard.

Two Screaming P90 Pickups

The predecessor to the PAFs, the P90 single coils are part of what make the Les Paul 1956 so unique. Whether you’re looking for bell-like tones, grungy overdrive or something in between, this Murphy Lab Goldtop reissue has you covered.

Ultra Light Aged Finish

The Murphy Lab puts this guitar through its Ultra Light aging process, showing slight lacquer checking, but very little playing wear. It looks like it’s spent the last five decades sitting in a case under the bed and you’re finally letting it out to breathe.

The Gibson Custom Murphy Lab 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue comes with a certificate of authenticity and a brown and pink reissue 5-latch hardshell case.
