OVERVIEW

Combines a 24-3/4' scale with a 22-fret neck.

With the neck bolted deeper into the the body by an extra-fret, you get a bigger sound on the Godin Exit 22 while retaining an extremely comfortable feel and balance thanks to the short scale and sculpted, heelless neck joint. Monstrous distortion tones are easily dialed in via the bridge-position humbucker and stinging clean sounds are at your fingertips thanks to the single-coils in the neck and middle position. The electric guitar's solid mahogany body and rock maple neck have a semi-gloss finish for a sleek feel.

Unbelievable! A diamond in the rough!!

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I've been a customer of Musiciansfriend since 1991. Pretty much know the inventory when I'm looking for a guitar. If you're like me you've played everything on the market. If you're looking for an inexpensive guitar that has perfect quality control, this axe is for you. Sweet thin neck, plenty of tonal options, very well balanced and the most important, Great Sound! For the price I paid with a top quality gigbag this thing blows the Melody Maker or the PRS SE student model away. Unless you play as good as Petrucci or Vai, this is all the machine you need. Best purchase I've made here.

Fantastic guitar

By GodinConvert

from Toronto, Ontario

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

The Exit 22 is a fantastic, North American made, pro quality guitar for a reasonable price. I've had mine for three years now (the one with the maple fretboard) and have nothing but good things to say about it. It was setup well brand new, but I prefer to play with .11s so had to set it up for those out of the box.The single coils and humbucker balance well in this guitar, and all positions on the selector switch yield usable tones. Neck position is particularly sweet for blues and jazz, neck-middle gets a good Sultans of Swing lead sound, and the bridge pickup handles hard rock and classic metal well. The tuners are well made and work nicely, the bridge is good quality and solidly built. The neck fits snugly in the neck pocket. Neck is similar to modern Fender necks. Upper fret access on the guitar is VERY good due to a smoothly rounded heel joint. It's easy to play notes up to the 22 fret. Medium jumbo frets keep you from fretting out, and are hard wearing. Only problem that has occurred since I've owned it is that the volume and tone pots started to get scratchy last year, so I replaced them. Cost was about 10$. No other problems after three years of daily play and occasional gigs, which is pretty good in my books.

great multi use beginner guitar

By creedence clearwater.revisted.com

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for anyone moving up from a beginner style. I play in a blues band, CCR cover band, a Dead cover band, and occasionally sub for an 80s hair band and have used this for all ofthem. It sounds best high up the neck with the bridge pickup, and sounds like my LP, even if it doesn't play as fast. The neck and fretwork isn't great and can beat up your fingers, and in retrospect I would have gotten a new american strat just for the fingerboard, but when I do, I'll probably still use this for live stuff.Prob best new guitar & most versatile in it's price range, though

Great value, Great guitar

By David-d3SJC

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I picked this guitar up at the same time I purchased my American Deluxe Strat. I love the weight, the feel and the simplicity of the Godin. Figured I'd use it in front of my computer and on the bus. And while I love this guitar, I always thought it could be more than what it was, so I swapped out the electronics, changed the pots from 250k to 500k, exchanged the mediocre Godin-designed humberbucker for a Bill Lawrence 500xl --and now I have a snarling tone machine that sounds as heavy as the lovely slab of mahogany that defines it.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I recently purchased the Godin Exit 22, maple neck, based on reviews, and my previous experience with a Godin electric. Man, this is one cool guitar, easy to play, gentle on the fingers, and totally playable out of the box. Probably will get a setup down the way after we all settle in, I usually wait 6 months unless there's something glaring after purchase. The sound is superb, close action, and slim neck, by my standards. Currently using a Reverend Hellhound, but it sounds just fine out of a Twin Reverb, or G-Dec Practice Amp. The neck was just a little rough for the first few months, and I did have to wait two months for the order to actually come in, but those are the only negatives that I can come up with. If I didn't own it, I would want to own it. A great, fun guitar by any standard, and well worth the price. Even the gig bag was nice, and I generally go hard shell on everything, which I'll get for this one down the way.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

My Exit 22 S is easily comparable to any of my top shelf guitars. I play, PRS, Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Early Washburn and Early Ibanez and this Godin holds it own against the pack. The only thing that this guitar suffers from is a lack of interest by the pro's. The main thing that makes a guitar desirable and go down in history as a great piece of kit is endorsement by the greats. Well, I think it's a nice that occasionally one slips through the gaps, it makes these guitars even more affordable and easy for struggling musicians to get a quality guitar at a price not over blown by reputation or hype.
This guitar has an amazing range of sounds with the SSH pickup combination, coil tap on the humbucker would make it even better but not absolutely necessary. The mahogany body is heavy, but so are my Les Paul's and PRS, it's not a guitar you would want strapped on all night, but I would rather the weight than the loss of tone and sustain. Clean sounds are incredible in neck and middle. The humbucker is a bit hard clean, but not unusable and it really is a bonus when you want dirty or crunch.Very nice slim neck, not uncomfortably slim and the 24 3/4 scale works perfectly with it.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I wanted a cheaper, almost "throw-away" guitar to leave at our winter home and was amazed at the quality sound and construction of the Godin. I have a '98 PRS Custom 22 at home and the Exit 22 feels very similar (slight fretboard radius difference, 10" for the PRS, 12" for the Godin). The 2 single and 1 humbucker with 5 way switching makes for any sound I require. All the pots, blade switch, and tuners are firm and feel solid and very positive. All in all, IMO the Exit 22 is a good replacement for my PRS at a fraction of the cost.

      Best Buy For Your Money

      By Go Dan!

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I was looking at a lower priced electric guitar and I had it down to a Mexi Strat or a Epiphone Les Paul. Then I heard about Godin. I tried it and instantly loved it! It had a beautiful soft sound that is hard to find. It is also very light, so that is also a plus. I strongly recommend this guitar.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is one of the best sounding guitars that I have ever played. It has better quality, and more versatility, than other guitars that I have played The neck is also very nice to play on. The only thing that I do not like about this guitar is the body, which is a style that does not work well with how I play. For the price this guitar is an amazing deal.

      Best electric guitar I own!

      By JazzMasta

      from Florida

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I have owned my Godin Exit22 with a rosewood fret board for a few months now. The whole body seems to be in communications with each other. you can tap on the body and get a response from this guitar the sustain is almost 15 second just plucking the low E. I have alos played the same model at my local music shop and those sound just as great as mine! With the three pickup setup and 5 way switch you can get countless sounds out of it. I play all types of music so from jazz to metal this suits my needs. I will admit I have played better guitars but not for the money. If you're looking around for a guitar, give this one a thought.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

The guitar is well designed from all points of view. It has a good usability, a great sustain, it's made of quality woods, the manufacture quality is really top level, and the sound is very versatile. Never played any industrial series guitar that even approached this level of achievement. It cannot compete with some of small series guitar that are almost hand craft, but given the price this model is just great ! I own several guitars, some of them cost 5 times the price of this Godin, however I'd personally really rate this model as one of my favorites.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

This is without any doubt one of the best guitars I've ever played. Great spectrum of sounds, very easy to play, veeery fast, immaculately manufactured. The Exit 22 has everything I need. Who needs shiny colours, bindings, mother-of-pearl inlays or other superfluous bling-bling? What you get is just a pure & good-looking piece of wood and 6 strings, that's all it takes. I strongly recommend this instrument, not only because of its price but also because it is simply awesome.

      By 2take

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I was looking for something that could sound like a Start, and a Les Paul, that didn't have the look of either. This guitar is just that. It is unique in looks, with an amazing sound, great playability, great tuning stability, and a comfortable feel. Parts are high quality. Overall this guitar is amazing, especially for the price, and a more unique pick than a Standard Strat for the price range.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

So, my first problem was that I was looking for an Ibanez. Don't tell me how I changed my mind, but it happened. It's kinda heavy (compared to an Ibanez) and the neck is kinda thick (compared to an Ibanez). Everything else is great. Easy to play, sounds great clean or distorted. Another thing, I wasn't used to playing a guitar with a middle pickup,it's kinda weird, it takes a while to get used to because it's right where you strum. Espesially when palm muting.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I loved this guitar. I bought it without plugging it in. Beautiful construction and finish.I owned the maple fretboard one.I own three strats and a PRS SE. I just couldn't get used to the scale length. The tone seemed a little harsh and un- dynamic, played through sans amp gt-2 and Fender hot-rod 4x10.Dont't get me wrong I love the Godin company, just try before you buy. I waiting for Godin to put out a guitar with the same specs as the exit 22 but with a 25 1/2 scale length, strat body, maple fretboard, and reverse headstock.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for 40 years and I own vintage strats and teles. I was looking for someting different when I read the Guitar Player magazine review on guitars under $500. They reviewed a different Godin but it caused me to check out all the models. I bought an exit 22 and have not played anything since. It took very little setup and it looks as good as it plays. Don't be afraid to try this one.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I got it by mistake - but I kept it. I was supposed to get a Godin mandolin (which is more expensive, btw). This is a great guitar. Good mahagony guitars have something that just goes through your body, and mine has it. Of course, every individual instrument is different, and you might get a dog. I'm not a real dyed-in-the-wool rocker, and I love using unusual instruments to play jazz, standards, country, fingerstyle, etc. I'm going to have this one set up to start with an .011 first string - it come with .09 which is too flimsy for me.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

Well if you were about to purchase some Fender low cost stratocaster model, give it up and take this one. The sound is better, with less noise. The sound palette is amazing. The hardware is top quality but it's quite better then the one you'll find on other similar price instruments.

      Superior instrument

      By bluesisjazzjazzisblues

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a solidly built instrument with sound and playability. I could not possibly be more pleased with my Godin. The solid mahogany body gives it a fabulous warmth of sound. The neck is light and very quick. The neck set more deeply into the body as it is gives the Godin an interesting and very comfortable balance when hung on a strap.Nothing fancy, no extraneous "features" to get in the way of a good solid instrument that out plays instruments twice the price. The one thing I wish this guitar had that it does not is a coil tap on the humbucker pickup, but that would just give it a bit of added flexibility.

Comments about Godin Exit 22 Electric Guitar:

I bought an exit 22 on blind faith more than a year ago. As soon as I took it out of the box, I knew I bought something different. Quality from end to end. But the best part is when you hit your first chord. I've been playing for 25 years, I've owned them all... This guitar resonates better than ANY guitar I've owned (solid body electrics of course). I'm dead serious. Hit a chord and the entire guitar vibrates, it comes to life.
