A great guitar for a great price. Im a devoted Fender fan but Gretsch is tho only other brand i play. I hope this review helps in your choice of a guitar! Cheers and God bless!
Personaly I prefer my instruments with not to many contols just a volume, tone, and a pickup selector and thats just what it has! Mine i purchased from a pawn shop and the wiring on the volume came lose but that was easily fixed with a soddering iron. (what do you expect from a pawn shop) For me the tone is perfect a nice Fender twang but with the smoothness of a Gibbson. and if you know your way around amp effects it can sound EXECTALY like a Rickenbocker!
One word, AMAZING. i cant stress how quality this instrument is. besides that wiring issuse (as stated above) there has been NO problems.
This price for a Gretsch is a steal espicaly of this quality.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar used from a second hand store, I saw it and figured I'd get a Gretsch at a cheap price and probably sell or upgrade it. When I got it home and cleaned it up, the finish of the guitar blew me away. I restrung it and plugged it in expecting to get a low quality sound. I was dead wrong. I own several fenders, both mex and American, as well as several high end les pauls. This guitar sounded better than all of my fenders and most of my les pauls. The sound quality in my opinion rivaled the most high end guitars I have played and the feel of the guitar was a dream. Much lighter than most of my les Paul's.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

I picked one of these up in a pawn shop like the other person who posted a review. I got it for a good price and it's in exceptional shape, and if I had to buy it new, I would certainly pay the price that Musician's Friend charges. In my opinion, this is guitar is great value for money. When you pick it up, it feels solid, looks attractive, and sounds great. The clarity of the pickups is awesome and when you pour on the distortion, you can still hear every note, and the chambered body makes the sound very rich. It's got a real cool rock n roll vibe to it in looks and in sound. I've played more expensive guitars that I've been much less impressed by. The neck is very nice and (for me) just right. I'm not terribly familiar with Gretsch guitars, but I'd be willing to try others based off of this one.

The only issue I have had with the guitar, other than setup (it was pre-owned, so I don't attribute that to the Gretsch QC) is that it doesn't sustain quite like I wish it would, but it's a good enough guitar that I'll still give it a 5/5.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

Although I've never had a problem with anything I've bought from MF, this has to be by far the best set-up guitar, straight out of the box, I have ever seen. I did nothing but slap a new set of 10's on it and it was ready to play immediately. The intonation might need a bit more dialing in, but other than that: it's already there. Action: perfect. Great tuners, definitely solid. The Electro-matic pickups are unusual, sort a noiseless single coil sound, but they are powerful and I like their uniqueness. Despite the 'bloated LP' shape, the guitar is not particularly heavy and is comfortable both sitting or standing. And the looks cannot be beat. Fans of the seminal punk group "X" might recognize this guitar... if there was a "Billy Zoom Signature Model Gretsch" this would be it. Lovely. In an era where Gibsons and Rics are astronomically priced, and Fender's quality control has become consistently inconsistent, I thanks the Guitar Gods for Gretsch!

This is really a good guitar and even better for the price. I don't believe you can beat it for the money. Fit and finish was great right out of the box. Strings were tolerable. Tunners ok. Easy to play with no adjustment. Only drawback was the weight. A very few other come in at 2/3s the weight. If this is not a concern, BUY IT and never look back. I love it.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

Gorgeous guitar that required only some basic string tuning to get up and running. The knobs all have just the right amount of resistance, and the guitar itself has a good weight if a Talman or Strat is too lightweight for your liking. The guitar comes with a set of .10s on it and the truss rod seems to be pretty well adjusted.
Sounds much better unplugged than a solid body so it's great for late night practice if you don't have headphones.

A few years back I knew I wanted a Gretsch but couldn't afford most of their models. I am so stoked and grateful to have this one!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

This is a great example of a Chinese-built guitar that hits all the right notes. It's very light-weight, pretty much flawlessly built, and with a little tweaking of the setup, it plays great and feels great. Pretty versatile tonally as well. I may swap in some locking tuners, but in its first gig, it barely needed any tuning. So for the price, I'm very pleased.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

I just plugged in my new Gretsch Jet Club and after a slight tune up, I was thoroughly amazed. Not only does it stay in tune, the intonation and set-up are spot on right out of the box. The most amazing thing to me is how they are able to capture that Gretsch sound in a guitar at this price point. The workmanship appears to be excellent but time will tell that story in the long run. The stock tuners have a good feel, and even the stock D'addario strings are good to go. So far, I've only had it hooked up to my little solid state Fender practice amp. I can't wait to hear it through my tube amp tomorrow. Out of all my Fenders, Epiphones and partscasters, this is destined to become one of my favorites.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

I wanted an inexpensive introduction to the Gretsch line of guitars. The Silver G5425 seemed like the right choice. I really wasn't sure what to think, but once I unboxed the guitar I knew I got more for my money than I expected. The fit and finish of the guitar was flawless. Action was low with no fret buzz. It was as if whoever set this guitar up knew it was for me. I was playing within minutes and was reluctant to put it down. Controls were smooth and tight. Pickups sounded great. Very comfortable to play. Highly recommend this guitar to the beginner guitarist and to the professional musician alike.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

This guitar is pleasure to play...size and feel of a LP...without the weight and a slightly thinner neck. Good setup and action (out of the box), I did tweak the intonation and replaced the strings. Fit and finish were excellent for this price point. In fact, the setup and fret work are superior to the last LP Jr. (Gibsxn) I purchased. Pickups sound more like humbuckers than Gretsch pickups, so don't expect the jangle. Don't under estimate this instrument, the Chinese craftsmanship is to be taken seriously. It is production unit and it is definitely comparable to the high end Epiphone, Squire, and lower end major brands. This guitar can compete with models 3 to 4 times its cost. I highly recommend anyone interested in a LP style guitar to give it a sound check.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5425 Electromatic Jet Club Electric Guitar:

Purchased the Jet Club because I've always wanted a Gretsch, but could not afford US made and have found that I value simplicity in my guitar. That means no Bigsby, no extra switches and knobs. The Jet Club hits all those marks. The finish is nice, no ragged frets hanging off the neck. Hardware and electronics are solid. Plugged in, the humbuckers sound fair - I'll likely change them out for something with a little more twang and bite, but I kinda planned on that from the get go. Only real knock is it arrived needing a proper set up. Intonation was way off, and a little fret buzz to address. It had that little card included that supposedly indicates some person did the set up and signed off on it. Pretty sure that "someone" did not actually do a proper set up. No biggie, as I kind of expect that on a guitar that is such a great deal. Once I get those little items taken care of I'll have an excellent addition to my modest stable of electrics.
