This Custom 00-21 totally hand-built by the Martin Custom Shop team, and was conceived for players who desire the tone and character of a smaller-bodied instrument. It's inspiration comes from a prized instrument in Martin's museum collection. After close evaluation of the original, the Adirondack tops on this 00-21 were thinned carefully to achieve the maximum balance between flexibility, movement and strength. These tops were then carefully matched to premium Madagascar rosewood backs and sides to create a sound box that's sonically exquisite. To further achieve the Golden Era tone, 1/4" hand-scalloped Adirondack bracing was used, and the entire instrument was constructed with vintage hide glue. Hide glue is highly sought-after due to its hardening characteristics which cause it to act as if it's part of the instrument and not just adhesive. But this custom 00-21 doesn't just perform well - it looks stunning too with its highly flamed koa binding. The guitar feels great too: the genuine mahogany neck has been given a special 1937 shape (done by the skillful hands of Custom Shop craftspeople). The neck construction features a traditional T-bar, and the scale length is a wonderfully comfortable 24.9" scale.
