PRS Custom 24-08 Electric Guitar - Tiger Eye

The PRS Custom 24-08 expands the tonal possibilities of the guitar that started it all for Paul Reed Smith, pairing the foundational Custom 24 design with TCI pickups and dual EQ mini-toggles for a remarkably broad range of hum-canceling tones. A carved maple top and mahogany back deliver the warmth, sustain and clarity at the heart of the Custom formula, while a one-piece mahogany Pattern Thin neck and 24-fret rosewood fingerboard provide fast, responsive playability across the 25" scale. Slightly narrower TCI pickups offer a focused, musical response that moves from fat, soapbar-inspired tones to bright, chimey textures, with independent EQ switches providing added clarity without sacrificing hum cancellation. A PRS patented Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons provide expressive control and dependable tuning performance. Built in Maryland, the Custom 24-08 brings exceptional tonal flexibility to the iconic platform that has defined PRS since 1985.

Maple and Mahogany Deliver the Classic Custom Foundation

The Custom 24-08 stays true to the tonewood formula at the heart of the original Custom, pairing a mahogany back with a carved maple top for a rich, balanced response. Mahogany contributes warmth, depth and sustain, while maple adds clarity and definition that help chords retain separation and individual notes speak with precision. A set mahogany neck completes the resonant solidbody construction, creating a strong connection between neck and body for a cohesive response across the instrument. PRS's sculpted violin top carve gives the maple additional dimension and unmistakable visual character, complemented by a high-gloss nitro finish that highlights the contours of the classic Custom silhouette.

Pattern Thin Neck Delivers Fast 24-Fret Playability

A one-piece mahogany neck with PRS's Pattern Thin carve gives the Custom 24-08 a sleek, responsive feel suited to fluid movement across all 24 frets. The 25" scale provides the balanced string tension characteristic of PRS guitars, while the 10"-radius rosewood fingerboard offers a comfortable surface for chord work, expressive bends and technical lead playing. Twenty-four frets provide two full octaves of range on every string, extending comfortably into the upper register. Signature PRS bird inlays complete the fingerboard, while a double-acting truss rod provides precise adjustment for maintaining consistent playability over time.

TCI Pickups and EQ Switches Expand Tonal Possibilities

The Custom 24-08 pairs two slightly narrower TCI pickups with independent EQ mini-toggle switches for a flexible range of focused, hum-canceling tones. The TCI pickups deliver a full, musical response that can move from fat, soapbar-like sounds to spanky, single-coil-inspired textures, while a three-way toggle handles straightforward pickup selection. Developed by Paul Reed Smith and John McLaughlin for McLaughlin's Private Stock model, each EQ switch engages a tuned high-pass filter that removes shelved low end and lets more high frequencies through, producing added clarity and chime while the pickup remains hum canceling. Master volume and tone controls keep the expanded electronics intuitive, giving the Custom 24-08 exceptional range without relying on conventional coil splitting.

Gen III Tremolo and Phase III Tuners Support Expressive Control

The PRS patented Gen III tremolo provides smooth, responsive pitch control for everything from subtle vibrato to more pronounced bends. At the headstock, PRS Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons secure the strings for dependable tuning stability and efficient string changes, complementing the tremolo during expressive playing. Nickel hardware maintains the Custom 24-08's clean, refined presentation while providing the dependable performance expected from PRS's flagship platform. The guitar includes a hardshell case for secure protection during storage and transport.

The Original PRS Formula With Expanded Tonal Possibilities

Introduced in 1985, the Custom 24 established the foundational PRS formula with its carved maple top, mahogany construction, 24-fret neck and distinctive combination of premium playability, tone and craftsmanship. The Custom 24-08 preserves those defining elements while expanding the electronics with TCI pickups and individually switchable EQ filters that move between full-bodied warmth and chimey clarity without sacrificing hum cancellation. Combined with the Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners, the PRS Custom 24-08 carries the company’s original design forward with a uniquely flexible voice built for players who want more tonal range from the quintessential PRS platform.
