Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Limited-Edition Electric Guitar:

Beautiful guitar. The finish is immaculate. I think it's a great guitar for the money, especially at the reduced price I payed for it. I've never really played high end guitars, so I can't really compare the tone or play-ability to certain Fenders or Gibsons . The guitars I've owned were a bottom of the line Fender Telecaster, a couple of Epiphone semi-hollow bodies and a used Teisco Del Rey when I was 12...so this is a definite upgrade for me. I'm still playing around with tones, but I feel like the pickups are a little less bright than I thought it would be, but definitely warmer and fuller. The action was a bit higher than I expected, so I have to see how I feel about that after playing it for a while. Also, most SE's come with 9-42 gauge strings while I'm used to 10-46 so I'm thinking that I might switch string gauges at some point. I have not found any buzzing or dead spots on the neck. All in all, I'm pretty excited with my purchase.

The online picture does not depict the true color. There is much more red than shown. Especially on the outer edges.

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Limited-Edition Electric Guitar:

The 2017 PRS SE Custom 24 is a very nice guitar for the money compared with other guitars in the same price range. The quality put into them is outstanding , mine even came with crème binding, nice little touch & it also included the nice PRS SE gig bag ! PRS is known for quality & it doesn't disappoint in that area, the finish on mine is Fantastic, I've seen guitars that cost twice as much that don't have the quality build this guitar has. Trust me if you purchase this guitar, you will not be disappointed !

          Service and delivery comments:

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Limited-Edition Electric Guitar:

Ok, so I'm reviewing a guitar that I received in exchange for one that arrived with some damage to the head stock and was returned. This one arrived in better condition, but with one somewhat minor flaw. The coil tap tone pot was installed sloppily and stands too high relative to the guitar and at a slight angle. Even when the knob is in the downward position, you can easily see the nut that secures the pot to the body of the guitar. I haven't looked into it yet, but it appears that the hole was drilled at an angle, not sure why the the shaft and nob are so high. Also, as with the first guitar, the input jack was lose. Also, while not a flaw, the action is set a bit higher than other guitars that I considered before buying this one. On the plus side, the rest of the guitar seems very well constructed. The finish ok, although I liked the appearance of the first one that was returned more. The humbuckers give you a fat, clean and full sound dwhile the split coil gives a grittier but thinner sound. I think, pretty Decent for the money as are the electronics in general. The wide thin neck is comfortable to play. The frets seem to be properly seated and smooth at the edges. My SE has a creme binding which is a nice touch. So, I'm pretty happy with my purchase, but with some annoyance at the lack of quality control on behalf of someone. Not sure if it's PRS, Musician's Friend or both.

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Limited-Edition Electric Guitar:

Out of box, was unplayable for me - very high action.

I tried lowering action, adjusting truss rod, changed the strings to .10 gauge. Couldn't lower action at all without major buzzing.

Also, the frets were not crowned properly.

Very disappointed after all the great reviews I read about PRS guitars. Last year I ordered a cheaper ESP LTD guitar from Musician's Friend - it blows the PRS away (Grover tuners, DiMarzio pickups, better hardware overall) - on that guitar i was able to lower the action very low.

Be careful, if you have to return, you will pay shipping to get it back to Musician's Friend.
