Comments about Rogue RA-090 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is the third Rogue acoustic instrument I've owned. They've all been very good including this one. For a budget Acoustic-Electric I don't think you're going to find much better than this guitar. While it may not become a family heirloom it is a well built, great sounding guitar. My biggest knocks against this guitar would have to be the facts that the frets were quite sharp on the ends and needed to be filed down a a bit. Also some of the frets seems as if the were not seated all the way into the fret board. Aside from these two itmes I have no complaints. The sound is nice and rich with a nice bottom end, the machine heads are smooth and stable and the on board tuner works great. Like I said earlier, for a budget guitar what more could you ask for?

I filed the frets, lowered the action and changed the strings. Plays good, sounds great plugged in. Tuner is good.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

When I purchased this guitar, I did so with the understanding that it is an entry-level guitar. I basically wanted it for a practice guitar, to help improve my fundamentals. What I did not expect was the beautifully warm tone this guitar provides. Not only do I use it to improve my basics, I use it as a regular part of my recording rig. Crisp where it needs to be, but always warm. A nice bonus is the built-in tuner and line-out jack. The tuner seems to be pretty darn accurate and the line-out allows me the flexibility of either recording with a mic, or just direct-boxing the guitar for a slightly harsher tone. If you are looking for a quality instrument that will pack a ton of value for your money, look no further. This is the guitar you are looking for.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The instrument is worth every penny but major adjustments were required to be able to play it without injuring the forefinger on sharp frets which had to be filed down considerably.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am usually not critical about anything that I buy used and for very little money so I will not be with this guitar either. I am teaching a kids guitar class at my place of employment and decided to order something that I can keep in my office that I do not have any attachment to. This was labeled as blemished but I wasn't concerned about it. I wasn't expecting much.
First, a couple of positives that you should know if you are considering this guitar: 1. The action is good and low out of the box, 2. I was surprised by the electronics for what I paid. Just the built in tuner and ability to plug in are worth it (I did not plug it in yet), 3. It stays in tune well, 4. The finish looks good for what it is with no cracking.
A couple of negatives that I noticed: 1. The fret board is very dry and also seems to be a paper thin overlay attached to the neck. It doesn't line up exactly along the sides and almost looks as if there is glue sticking out of the sides, 2. The neck on this guitar is huge. I am used to playing with larger necked guitars but this thing is massive. I could imagine being a beginner and getting frustrated by this as it makes it hard to move about the frets easily when changing chords, 3. The frets themselves had some sort of goo on them which had begun to cause oxidation (needed a good cleaning).
I attribute most of the downfalls to the fact that this was a blemished instrument so I am not worried about any of them especially because of the price that I paid and the use for which I bought it. I may have been able to do a little better on Amazon but it is always a gamble when you order online. I went with Musicians Friend because I trust them and have been buying from them for years.
All in all, if you are someone who is looking to learn the guitar, I would recommend an entry level Fender or Ibanez rather than the Rouge but that is only because of the neck. I would recommend this guitar if your purpose was similar to mine.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Two stars are for the ease of working with Musician's Friend. Bought a Rogue RA-090 as a cheap guitar and not worry about dings during travel. The reviews for the straight acoustic were great but there are limited ones for the acoustic-electric; however, they appear to be favorable.

The first one arrived in good condition but the intonation was awful. The saddle looked as if it sat in a hot car and melted. It was very bowed. I returned it due to this issue.
The second one arrived in just as good condition. Intonation just as bad and there was a buzz coming from the frets and sound board. I was able to deal with the fret buzz with the included hex key. I decided to remove the strings and see if I could mess with the saddle and see if I could remove the buzz. After removing the strings, the saddle fell out. It was attached to a slightly sticky thing at the bottom of the saddle channel. Turns out the channel was machined too large and allows the saddle to bend under light string tension. This must have been the case on the first guitar too.
With the strings off, I pressed around looking for loose items on the sound board and found none.
I reattached the 6th string and tried to locate the buzz.
I reattached all strings while holding the saddle in the right location and the intonation improved.
Buzz still there somewhere in the sound board.

I either got two lemons or the acoustic-electric just isn't up to par with the straight acoustic.
            Make your choice accordingly.
