I bought this guitar, model (D10SCE) in black. Being the owner of a Martin D-28, and Taskamine N-series 12 string, I bought this guitar specifically for the electronic aspects. I knew I was buying a "moderately" priced guitar, and just assumed the instrument would reflect just that...I was really surprised. Granted, there were some minor craftsmanship flaws in mine, but overall, I hafta give it very high marks. The bodywork weas beautiful, not a swirl, or scratch on her. Intonation was on mark to the 12th. Other than some rough frets along the neck, this dude plays sweet, very comfortable, and the on-board tuner is a real asset. I play at least a couple, if not three of my guitars every day, and I always look forward to picking up this Washburn, especially plugged in. I use a small amp, balance the rig/guitar, and just jam along,... Completely different than my D-28, w/just the right amount of electronics to bring out some different character...It's nice stuff. One more thing before I mention some flaws I found in mine..The tuners are magic..They don't seem to ever stray...(i swear it seems that way, and if you've ever owned a cheap guitar, you know what i'm talkin about) Couple of items I didn't care for...Sloppy work on a couple of end-pins, and one of the tuning machines was a bit off center of the headstock, not that you'd notice, cept when changing strings, and the winder keeps bang into the headstock on the "A" string. The action was predictably high. (fixed) All in all, I love this guitar, and would recommend it's purchase to anyone.

When it came now I just had to tune it and it was good to go. I'v owned it for about 2 years now and I can say that its a good guitar. The sound is pretty good for a guitar in this range and the electronice are good as well. The best part I'd have to say is the tuners, I have put them threw hell trying to make them slip or lose tune but I've just ended up breaking strings. Only tuned it about once a month. The built in tuner helps but never quite hits the mark. When I got the case it had a funk about it but its waring off about now. Over all it's a great guitar for the value and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a good guitar.

Dont think, just buy it now

By A man that loves his D10SCE

from California

Awesome guitar, if you looking at it then buy it now and if your just about to buy it, you Rock!! I bought it about a year ago and have taken good care of it since then. The electronic are really good especially if you get the WT-92 which normally comes with a on-board tuner, the tuner saved me some money and it works great, the low battery light comes on with plenty of warning so you have fair warning before your guitar goes dead in the middle of a show which happened to me once. The tuner works good until the battery runs low and then you just tune it buy ear until the battery totally dies. For its price range its the best guitar ive ever played. Great beginner guitar that will work for you until you become an advanced player... Stop being indisisive and buy it!!!

Awesome acoustic-electric

This is an incredible acoustic-electric! It keeps up with everything that we play at church. I have really enjoyed my washburn guitar. Thanks washburn! When I got this guitar 2 years ago I was just amazed by it's beauty and it's features such as the WT-82 preamp and tuner which work great. So once again thanks washburn for such a great guitar.

best acoustic i have played guitar

By drift3r_92

from clendenin, WV

I bought this guitar recently at a small guitar shop. It is used and the only thing wrong with it is that it has a small dent near the neck, but it doesnt affect the sound at all. I love this guitar. This is the first acoustic I own, but I have played a couple of my friends acoustic's and this one is by far the best sounding and easiest to play. If you are thinking of buying this guitar don't wait it is amazing!

Great Guitar

By playerofguitar223

from Denver, CO

Bought this a few years ago as a beginner, didn't end up seriously playing until this past year. Didn't break the bank, yet still sounds real nice. After four years it will hold a tune for weeks (assuming same temps/humidity). I love it, probably will not need to 'upgrade' for a while.

Great sound, playable, but NOT WELL MADE

This is my third of four guitars and my favorite of all of them. However, if it were stolen, I would not buy another one.My story: I bought the guitar slightly used from a small music shop. It has an amazing sound, a great value. About 6 months later, the action got lower and lower until it buzzed and finally was no longer usable. I only ever played it in standard tuning and tuned down a half step, and I used heavy strings. I sent it in, and after a long while, they replaced it because the adjustment would cost more than the guitar was worth. My replacement again is fabulous, but after about 6 months, the same problem with the action is happening. When I tune it up a half or whole step, the warping seems to wane, so I'm ordering especially heavy strings, but I have lost faith in this guitar. This guitar does NOT have a truss bar to adjust the action, and therefore any down-tuning, change in humidity, or change in string gauge renders this otherwise high-quality guitar obsolete. It would be hard to find a comparable sound for this price, but this guitar does not stand the test of time. I take very good care of my guitars, so I do not think it is something that I did.The built in tuner and dual low-z, high-z input work great, but the tuner is not chromatic and there is no automatic off, so I got through batteries really fast.

A joy to play

By Old Metal

I rated this guitar in it's price range. I've played acoustics that cost twice as much that don't sound any better than the D10SCE; plugged or unplugged. It sounds very, very good and plays smoothly and easily. It came perfectly set up...that doesn't happen very often. The action is perfect for me. I play a little bit of all styles; fingerpicking (folk/classical), capoed and strumming styles. There are no buzzes anywhere on the neck; I've fretted chords up to the 12th fret and no buzzes. This guitar has a nice, all-around sound. It's not "big and boomy" like a jumbo dred, but it does have a nice balance of "all around punchy sound" without being nasally. Chords ring and individually plucked notes stand out. I love this thing!Mine came with the newer WT-92 electronics package. The onboard electronics are very nice; tuner is accurate and easy to use. Electronics are quiet and offer a wide range of adjustment thanks to the inclusion of a presence control in addition to the usual B-M-T adjustments. Haven't tried the balanced out, but the 1/4" out sounds great direct in to the board. The tuning heads are smooth and stay in tune. I play in alternate tunings and have no probs. A strap button on the heal would've made this a 5.0 in features. It even comes with a (nice) case...seals the deal!

One major flaw in an otherwise perfect guitar.

By Washburn Guy

from La Habra Heights, CA

I just purchased this guitar and I love it. I have had a Washburn D10s for years and decided it was time to get a D10sce for recording and performing. I was skeptical at first of the loss of lower tones due to the cut-out, but the convenience of the higher fret access alleviated that. The quality of wood has also improved drastically in Wasburns in the last few years. The deep dark wood grains contrasted with the bright, almost quilted, solid top make for an absolutely gorgeous product. And the intricate real-wood inlays let you know that your not looking at decals. The sound of this light-weight guitar is beautiful. The tuners have a good rotational ratio and hold a tune for a long time. The electronics are extremely versitile and easy to use. The built-in tuner is confusing at first but highly accurate. The truss rod makes for a long lasting consistency with extremely minimal fret-buzz. The ONE MAJOR DRAWBACK I see is that there is no strap-lock on the upper shoulder (AKA, you have to tie one end of the strap to the head or have a strap-lock installed). Other than that, a guitar of this exceptional quality for such a low price is unbeatable! It truly holds place among much higher brands but is unfortunately overlooked. Recommended to anyone who will give it a good home and truly enjoy it.

Good Wood

By Trigger-ZDCUF

from NY

I have 5 guitars a tak, dean, esp, yamaha and the Washburn. I usually play it unplugged sounds as nice as most acoustics better then most that cost a few hundred more. Slight buzzing with the original strings I changed to Elixers and set it up and it sounds awesome. It isnt a Taylor or Parkwood or Martin but you are paying less then half what those cost and this guitar sounds amazing. Looks really nice, fit and finish is good I like the thinner neck overall I am very happy with it. My friends who have played it loved it and thought it was a steal for the price. I keep trying to find something at the music stores that I like better and have come to the conclusion there isnt anything out there for the same price that compares, to get something better you have to pay much much more.

Great value

By Mack

from Southern Tennessee

I have owned the Washburn D10S acoustic-electric for 3 years. It has served me very well. The sound, whether plugged or un-plugged has always been very nice. I use the elixer med-lite strings. I have wanted to upgrade to a more expensive guitar but have not because I love playing this guitar. I have exposed it to extreme cold and hot temperatures and it has held up and still sounds great. I would recommend this guitar as the best starter guitar and also a perfect guitar to carry to jam sessions when you don't want to take your more expensive guitar.

A very pleasant surprise

By copterdr715

from Georgia/Iraq

I have to admit that I only chose this guitar because it came with a hard case. But now I am so glad I did, Right out of the box this thing sounded amazing! Not to mention it is a beautiful piece of work. Set up was perfect and the on board tuner was a breeze to master. I would keep light strings on it just because they really resonate off of the soundboard. I havent plugged in yet because amps are hard to come by here in the desert. All in all this was a very pleasant surprise and I am now a diehard Washburn fan.

It's a Wash!

Right of the box I fell in love with the D10SCE. It's got everything you could ask for in this price range, and its above average all around. You can tell right away. I can see why it gets such good reviews. The D10SCE has a very open and natural sound with a slight blues edge to it when soloing. The only drawback is it's not a solid wood back and sides, but the design seems to almost overcome this. I think this one's a bargain. For me, it's a keeper.

Great all arounder

By Mike-WibQ7

from Las Vegas, NV

A lot of good quality in a decently priced package. Good wood, great feel and simple to adjust and work on should you need it. The only complaint I have is the strings that come from the factory are pretty bad. Easily fixed. A set of Martin Phosphor Bronze strings did wonders and a simple adjustment with the included allen wrench to the truss rod dialed it all in. Fantastic starter and mid-range guitar.

Nice Guitar

By guitarfreak-sJ4Om

I really like this guitar. I have owned it for around a year or so now, and it continues to amaze me. You need to put some strings on it, but thats an easy fix. I had my neck set and adjusted after a couple of months of playing and now it plays even better. Although it still lacks a little from competing with my Taylor, it is a great guitar for the money.

Good acoustic for the money.

By Jason-5e08m

from Nebraska

I have had this guitar for a couple months for my lessons, and I am not disappointed. Unplugged this thing plays great. I've compared it to other acoustic/electrics and this one just has a fuller sound to it. I have only used this with a regular amp, and not an acoustic amp, but it still sounded great through my amp. I did not need to change a thing when it arrived, the intonation was great, even the strings that came with it are good. Washburn makes great guitars.
