About Jackson Dinky Guitars

The Jackson Dinky may be a little smaller than other Super-Strat-style electric guitars, but it's a full-featured, top-quality axe that can go head-to-head and shred-to-shred with the best of them. Named for its slightly diminutive 7/8-size body design, most models still sport the familiar Fender-size 25.5 string length, so the Dinky is the perfect choice for rockers who want a pro-level guitar with a smaller body and a little less weight, for greater comfort and ease of movement on stage. Jackson guitars have been known for their excellent build quality, shred-friendly design, and aggressive pickups and whammy systems since the early 1980s, shortly after Grover Jackson, an employee and then owner of Charvel Guitars, began releasing radically designed axes under his own name. The first and perhaps most notable of these was the offset Flying V-style Concorde built for the late, great Randy Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne's neo-classical axe-meister during his Blizzard-era comeback.

As the heavy metal scene flourished, so too did Jackson's dominance, with guitarists from Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith to Lamb of God's Mark Morton and John Campbell shredding their way to glory wielding Jackson axes. The Dinky has since carved its own niche in the metal firmament, and with top-quality construction materials and appointments like basswood or alder bodies; ebony, rosewood or maple compound radius fingerboards; bolt-on 24-fret maple necks; high-output, ear-melting pickups from the likes of EMG, Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio; and a variety of bridge options, from hardcore hard-tails to radical Floyd Rose setups, there is a Dinky to capture even the hardest heavy metal heart.

For instance, the DKXT Dinky sports an archtop basswood body and high-speed, full-size 25.5 scale maple neck with 24 extra-jumbo frets on a compound radius fingerboard; a pair of screaming EMG humbucking pickups, and a string-through-body design with fully adjustable TonePros bridge for maximum sustain and tuning stability. The Pro Dinky DK2HT is another hardtail, with alder body; direct-mount Jackson HT-6 string-through bridge; and a pair of direct-mount Seymour Duncan humbuckers. The DK2M Pro Series Dinky is built for speed, with alder body; 3-piece maple graphite-reinforced neck with hand-rubbed oil finish; Duncan Zebra humbuckers, and Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo. The DK2MQ Dinky Pro boasts a gorgeous quilt maple top on an alder body; flat-sawn graphite-reinforced maple neck with wraparound heel and maple or dark rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets; Floyd Rose whammy system; and dual Seymour Duncan humbuckers.

The Adrian Smith San Dimas Dinky is based on the Iron Maiden axeman's late '80s Custom Shop signature model, and features an alder body, ebony or maple compound-radius fretboard, Floyd Rose Original double-locking 2-point tremolo, and a DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucking bridge pickup, along with two Fender SCN single-coils. Whatever playing style you favor, the Jackson Dinky line offers a collection of high-quality axes boasting supreme playability and comfort, and with Jackson's reputation for producing heavy metal-worthy masterpieces, all before you will have to either shred, melt, or get out of the way!
