Overview

Classic Helios EQ character in a compact 500 Series module.

Designed to bring the EQ section of H2 Audio's flagship 0011 into a standard 500 Series workflow, the H2 Audio 5011 500 Series 3-band Helios EQ recreates the inductor-based circuit associated with classic Helios console modules in a compact, single-slot format. Its 3-band design combines selectable low- and mid-frequency controls with a fixed 10kHz high-frequency band, providing broad tonal shaping for drums, guitars, vocals and complete mixes. The 5011 pairs an electronically balanced input with a transformer-balanced output and amplifier stage, maintaining the analog architecture behind its distinctive response. With generous boost and cut ranges, EQ bypass and carefully selected switching components, the 5011 gives engineers a focused way to add Helios-style equalization to tracking and mixing chains without requiring a proprietary rack format.

Original 0011 EQ Circuit in 500 Series Format

At the heart of the 5011 is the same inductor-based 3-band EQ circuit used in H2 Audio's recreation of the Helios 0011 module. Rather than simply adapting the control concept, H2 Audio preserves the EQ architecture while pairing it with an electronically balanced input and transformer-balanced output with an amplifier stage. This design brings the 0011's approach to frequency shaping into a single-slot 500 Series module that can integrate into compatible lunchboxes and racks. Gold-plated audio toggle switches, ELMA gold-plated rotary switches and sealed conductive-plastic pots complement the analog circuit, giving studio engineers a purpose-built hardware EQ for both tracking and mix processing.

Three Bands Provide Broad, Musical Tone Shaping

The 5011 provides substantial control across its three frequency bands without overcomplicating the workflow. Low-frequency boosts are selectable at 60, 100, 200 or 300Hz with up to +15dB available, while a 50Hz setting provides cuts from -3 to -15dB. The midrange section offers eight selectable frequencies from 0.7–6kHz, with up to +16dB of boost and -17.5dB of cut for shaping presence, body and definition. A fixed 10kHz high-frequency band provides up to ±10dB of adjustment, while EQ bypass makes it easy to compare processed and unprocessed signals. Together, these controls provide a flexible palette for shaping individual sources or complete mixes.

Classic Helios Equalization for Modern 500 Series Racks

For engineers who want the tonal shaping of H2 Audio's 0011 without committing to its proprietary modular format, the 5011 provides that EQ circuit in a widely used studio platform. Its combination of selectable frequencies, broad boost and cut ranges, transformer-balanced output and straightforward controls makes it equally useful while recording or refining tracks during a mix. Hand-assembled in Detroit and built around the same EQ design as H2 Audio's 0011, the H2 Audio 5011 500 Series 3-band Helios EQ brings classic Helios-inspired analog equalization to modern 500 Series recording systems.
