I was looking for some vocal microphones that were better than the Nady SP-5 microphones that we are using. These were a "Stupid Deal" - so I tried them. VERY sensitive. I could literally scrape my fingernail down the XLR cable and hear the microphone pick it up. I could tap the floow near the stand and have the microphone pick it up. I WOULD NOT recommend these for stand microphones. I am going to fly these above the stage are and use them to pick up sound for concerts and such. That way they can be "isolated" and I won't have to worry about performers and speakers handling the microphones.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I don't have anything bad to say about this mic so far. I've had two of these for a few weeks and have used it primarily for PA and talkback in the studio. They have the heft of a 58 that many mics in this price range are lacking and they don't do anything too funky to the sound. I bought them as the 'stupid deal of the day' for [$] each so the only thing that would make me hate these mics is if they didn't work out of the box. I did some research and AKG makes these mics exclusively for musicians friend. I figure they just might be re-branded D88's without the switch, which is a pretty solid low end mic for the money. If anyone knows differently, please enlighten the rest of us!Time will tell the quality of craftsmanship with this unit. So far so good though. If you can't afford a 58 this is a good alternative and if they ever go on sale at [$] apiece again, it's a no brainer. They're worth the money at twice the price, so i bought two.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I needed a mic to replace my Shure Beta 58a. Bought this on a whim. Well worth the price. The D8000M represents my natural baritone nicely. Respnds well to nuance and the play of a seasoned performer. Cuts through a loud rock mix, but doesn't sound harsh or unnstural.

It could use a better internal pop filter. And, handling noise going into and out of a mic stand is present, but these are minor complaints that I've had with similar mics at much higher prices.

Nice mic for a bargain price. Well built. Feels substantial. Exceeded my expectations and then some. I chose it over a Neumann KMS105 for rehearsal and a recent live performance. No kidding.

This is a great mic for the money. No, the quality won't match higher priced mics, but for those on a budget these mics should do just fine for most applications.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I'd take it over the sm58 any day. I compared it side by side to the sm48-lc and the clarity difference was incredible. The clarity in the microphone reminds me of a condenser, but without the sensitivity of picking up the ambient noises as a condenser would. I've bought two, I LOVE this mic, I LOVE AKG!

This was purchased recently as Stupid Deal of the Day so I couldn't really go wrong...Its a Shure 58 sound for a lot less...seems just as sturdy as well..only time will tell if it is bulletproof..but really..most dynamic mics are..I used it as main vocal mic at my jam session and it sounded just as good as my personal microphone (a Shure Elvis style mic)so yes Buy it while you can cuz its being discontinued I hear.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I just bought this mic a couple of weeks ago and I use it for the first time at a rehearsal and it sounded really good. So I deceided to use it at a gig last week and I was quite please with how well it compared the SM58 that I usually use, as well as the other vocalists in the band. So for the price (it was the Stupid Deal of the Day for under $20) I got a really good mic. I also compared the specs of the D8000M and the SM58. Here's what they look like:

                    D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone Specifications:

                    Polar pattern: supercardioid
                    Frequency range: 40 to 20,000Hz
                    Sensitivity: 2.5 mV/Pa
                    Recommended load impedance: 2,000Ω
Maximum sound pressure level: 144 dB SPL

                    SM58
                    Type
                    Dynamic
                    Frequency Response
                    50 to 15,000 Hz
                    Polar Pattern
                    Cardioid
                    Sensitivity
(at 1,000 Hz Open Circuit Voltage)
                    –54.5 dBV/Pa (1.85 mV)
                    1 Pa = 94 dB SPL

The D8000M for the money was a good purchase. I have not yet used it in my home studio, but plan to soon. I feel confident that it will not disappoint. It is well made, sturdy and comes with a bag and clip. I've worked as a musician for many years and I know quality in gear. This mic is quality.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

For the price (I paid around $20 on sale), this is a great mic. It's a decent stand-in for an SM58. (Of course, the 58s cost about 5x as much!)

The real 58s are built like tanks... this one's built less heavy-duty, but not flimsy. It's taken a drop or two and is just fine.

This is a good mic for my home rehearsal space, where it'd not going to get banged around too much and doesn't see too heavy of a workload.

For the low price, you can't go wrong.

The Dynamic D80000M by AKG is a decent mic and it has really god sound but the only problem I have with it is if you go at it from anywhere on the side as opposed to directly in front of it you lose some of the sound. It is a nice looking microphone I like the way it sounds just not real happy with that part of it but overall it's a decent microphone. I would have been disappointed had I paid full price for it. I paid [$] for it on a special sale so for that price what more could one expect.

Side by Side vs SM-58 this microphone sounded cleaner and more accurate. The SM-58 had a warmer tone, which seems to be more pleasing for vocals. If you can add warmth at the board or with a vocal processor, the sound will be comparable. If you are using it for an instrument mic, the clarity would be a benefit. As a utility mic at this price point, it is a good value.

Surprisingly good quality for the price. Sturdy build. Standard stage vocal mic. Sounds similar to a Shure Beta58a. No real cons to this mic other than it's a bit hot in the upper mids, but many vocal performers would appreciate that on a live stage.

This is a great microphone for backing vocals. It may be sensitive it is great for backing vocal if you leave it on the stand. It is also good for lead vocals if you play an instrument and sing at the same time. Not much of a handheld microphone but overall it's great.

Picked it up at a Stupid Deal price. Wish I had bought two! The moment I opened the box, I knew I was holding a serious mic. It's built like a brick ship house. Yes, it's very sensitive, so leave it on the stand - it's not a hand held. It has excellent tone, and picks up remarkably well up to a foot away. If you are planning to eat this thing, or scream your lungs out, better have a wind sock. I sing softly from about 6 inches and it's perfect. Even when it's not on sale, this puppy is worth it.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

The mics are clear, provided they are stand mounted and decoupled from the floor. Handling noise isn't as bad as the transmission of every contact with the cable. I suggest a tripod stand with rubber feet or major carpet padding or you will hear every footstep on the stage. Superior off axis rejection minimizes feedback so the mic is great if you run at high stage volume.
