A different use..

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2010 Handheld Condenser Microphone:

Depending on the situation, this is a great mic, and would not be my first choice in a high charged band, however done properly it would work. I am sure that it would would respond well in an IEM setting. Of course if you can afford IEM you have a lot of choices. For solo performances, this mic shines and detail to boot.
Okay, I am a singer/songwriter who does solo as well as group music, as in a rock/blues/jazz mix. On the side I have been doing sound gigs, which includes indoor/outdoor concerts and pow-wows. Last night, to keep things sane, I hardwired some drum groups to keep from running wireless Sennheisers w/835 capsules to the outlying drum groups. I used wired Sennheiser 935(dynamic great vocal mike), Shure Beta 87, AKG 880, and the AT 2010. Compared to the Sennheiser wireless which were second to the AT 2010. Needless to say, I am going to buy two more Audio Technica 2010, as they sounded awesome, of coursed the drum group has a lot to do with their singing and drumming, however all things remaining equal, the dynamics didn't work as well, and you use the best mike for the situation. The secret is to point all of the mics up on a boom to utilize the cardiod pickup pattern of the microphone, as the drum is rejected and the vocals emphasized. I would imagine, if I were recording two of these mikes and a third ambient mic would be my best choice. A drum group placed the sennheiser directly at the group, like an overhead, and my mixer and the headphones agreed, too much drum. Happy mic'ing. These ATs shouldn't be overlooked, I am going to try out the Artist series next. By the way I also have Heil 20, Shure Beta 58, Audix OM5. The mic does require phantom power, just don't turn on the phantom power on and off with the amp/mixer up. Enjoy
Great clean sound. You might get some distortion if you get too close, with a mic like this you don't have to, in order to get great proximity effect.
For the price, I am getting two more, no questions asked!

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2010 Handheld Condenser Microphone:

I just got the Audio Technica AT2010 yesterday and recorded in the studio with it. Exceptional quality mic for bass / baritone vocals. I have more of a tenor range and am recording some songs with a lower baritone range, my other mics sound great in higher ranges, but too thin in lower. The AT2010 really fattens up the lows. Glad I bought.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2010 Handheld Condenser Microphone:

I had been looking at Neumann, Shure, and I've tried AKG, 58s, Audix, trying to find a great mike at a decent price. I play solo at times, and vocals make the difference if you are limited with accompaniment instruments. For the price and what it claims to deliver, it does. Clarity-excellent, subtle nuances-great, it makes me sound better-because I can hear myself. I play open mikes and other performances with groups, but this mike helps me improve in my delivery. If you are looking for that, this is a great mike for the price. I don't need another expensive mike to worry about, 'cause I've found what I was looking for.

Quality Condenser Mic for a Dynamic Price!

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2010 Handheld Condenser Microphone:

If you've been using Dynamic mics and wonder what your vocals could sound like with a studio quality mic, then you need to check this out! Immediately you will notice increased clarity and tone as the AT2010 captures subtle nuances left behind by other microphones. I've used this mic in recording and the vocals really stand out above the instrumental tracks. Rugged built like all of Audio-Technica's gear, it is a great value. After using this mic, you CAN'T go back to dynamics as the difference is night and day.

Great Audio

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2010 Handheld Condenser Microphone:

I bought the AT2010 to try on Ham Radio & it works great. I had tried several other mics - AKG, MXL & another Audio-Technia the ATR-50. All going through a Beringer 802 mixer. The AT2010 gets the best audio reports hands down. If you are into amature radio & looking for a great mic, give this one a try.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2010 Handheld Condenser Microphone:

Never owned a better mic for the money!I purchased two of these mics for a vocal trio bluegrass pop act. I already had a sure SM81 and did not want to go the expense of two more. I was blown away at how these mics performed alongside the SM81. Equal in clairity and even had better bass response. Ive used it in the studio for vocals, percussion, even a Native American flute sounds awesome! The real plus for studio is how the condenser kicks in when youre right in front of it so you dont pick up any unwanted sounds from the recording room in a project studio. If you are careful, you dont even need a pop screen

I returned the first mic as it did not work. When I got the second it did not work either. Customer service did not have a solution. I called a local music shop to find out what they had and they informed me the mic required a "phantom power" supply. I have this built in my mixer but had never used it. Once I flipped the switch it may be the best mic I have ever had.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2010 Handheld Condenser Microphone:

I've been a performing musician since the '70s, primarily as a single vocal/guitar in clubs, pubs, concerts, etc, and have used MANY mics over those years. As with most musicians performing live during the early days, I used a good 'ol SM58 and still have that mic. Since then, I've tried most Sennheisers, Heil, Audix, Audio-Technica, AKG, and discovered that an e945, OM7, PR22, and D5 fit my voice best. Looking for a good condenser for live use, I recently tried a Blue enCORE 300 and didn't like it at all. After reading nothing but positive reviews about the AT2010, it was certainly worth a try at the price, and it didn't disappoint. It took a while to get it 'dialed in' to my system and to myself, but once I figured out the correct distance from the mic, and how to sing a bit to the side in order to eliminate pops and esses, the clarity is superb. I tried a foam windscreen, but with this mic (unlike my other mics), I could definitely hear a degradation in clarity. It's very sensitive. I have to be more aware of technique, but one of the reasons I wanted a condenser is to hopefully aid in making me a better singer. So far, I'm extremely happy with this mic, and prefer it over my previous favorite mic ever...the OM7.

BTW, if you have a Heil PR22 with interchangeable screens (black, gold, silver), the screens fit the AT2010. However, the internal foam is a bit different and I've found the 2010 sounds a little better with its original screen designed for the mic.

This was the first vocal mic I ever purchased years ago when I joined a band that required me to start singing. I immediately got compliments on how it sounded! I am primarily a bassist, but sometimes I bring my flute out to the gig, and this mic sounds awesome for singing and for my flute (Instead of needing 2 separate microphones). The highs are crisp and clear, and the full body of the voice comes through. You also have a lot of room to back off of it if you need to sing quiet bkgd vocals. This would probably also work well for a choir. The only issues I have had are that it feeds back in a loud practice room, or a boomy and loud bar. All in all, it was a good purchase!

We bought two of these for our church and they are dynamite. I was after some SM58's but the store was out and they showed me this mic. Now I bring them with me where ever I sing. Haven't sang in a better mic. Sometimes I forget to turn on the effects on our board and don't even realize it until I see there off. The mic just sounds great by itself. Also I've used one to mic up my guitar and have been very impressed with the sound. One thing though, they are condensors and have to be phantom powered.
