If you want loud without much concern for linearity or frequency range they are good value. It will pump very loud bass but the performance rolls off severly below 100 Hz. Despite the 15 inch driver the base range is lack lustre. A Mackie SRM450 has better bass with a 12 inch driver though it won't go as loud. There is almost nothing in the high frequencies above 12 KHz. This is how they can claim a wide horn performance. It is equally lacking straight in front as it is at a wider dispersion. Take a look at the specs which back my observations. The product description reads like an electrical engineering achievement in weight reduction but there is actually very little regard for acoustic performance.

A great sounding cabinet

By walkerhide

from Everett, WA

I have four of these, 2 for FOH and 2 for monitors. They kick butt and they work great in the clubs - plenty of head room.

This speaker amp is really cool if you are a singer and want to make your band - this speaker has power enough to play in outplaces. For me, it's not neccessary to have an EQ system cause it just sounds great! What can I say, it's JBL!?

After a year and a half....

I bought 2 of these 18 months ago to act as the guts for a small PA to handle 2 vocals and 2 acoustic guitars. They have been absolutely fantastic in that application, and I've also been using them as floor monitors for my full band for the past 6 months. I think they make better mains than monitors, but that's mostly because I'd prefer to have them carpeted and have a lower center of gravity if you're going to use them as monitors...it has nothing to do with how they sound, which is fantastic. They cost a bit more than I wanted to spend when I first bought them, but they've been dropped, rained on, slung around in the back of my truck, and otherwise abused, and they've been well worth the price.I'll say this, though...I do not recommend running a kick drum through them at any appreciable volume...when I use them for monitors and run a kick through them, I CAN distort them with my vocal...of course, you'd never run a vocal as loud through these as mains as I run my vocal using them as monitors.

Great Sound Quality

By aaz

from manchester

these babies where built to take abuse, i bought mine second-hand from a club that closed down, and after 3 years of abuse they still sound great, that good that i use then as monitors on stands in my studio (the only reason i gave it a 7 on the features, is because it doesnt have built-in eq's)

Excellent portable PA speaker

By Tony-grf2o

from Fredericksburg, VA

I own the entire EON 15 system (2 speakers + JBL EON 10 board), I have used it for everything from club gigs to DJ'ing large auditoriums. I have never used it at more than 50% of its power capacity - it is crisp, clear, and loud! They are the best bang for the buck on the market...

Great sound, not enough knobs, hisses

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Great sound and projects well, no 1/4" in jack, and hisses softly when no input is present. Needs a few more knobs for adjustments!

Despite the fact that these speakers arent as pretty as most, their combonation of power and clear quality sound make this speaker perfect for any band practice and even some club gigs.

If you crank up the bass you won't get it clear, but otherwise it is great especially for PA systems.

Perfect For Me

By OldBassMan

I host an open mic show and do small venues with my band. I bought two of these for mains and two brand X floor monitors and can only say I wish I'd bought four of these. They work great in both applications, sound better, and are lighter and easier to lug than the brand X.

Not Audiophile Quality

By Golden Ears

from HI

See all my reviews

Sound is average. Sound not dynamic. Tweeter dispersion fair. High-end little rough, analytical. Low-end too lightweight. Fine for vocal-only use. For music, much better (expensive) choice is Mackie SA1521. Mackie SRM450 vs. JBL EON15 G2 -- apples vs. oranges -- not any better, just different pros/cons.
