Overview

A digital rack mixer with recallable studio preamps.

High-channel-count mixing, multitrack recording and networked audio now fit into a single rack space. The PreSonus StudioLive Series III SE 16R is a 16-channel digital rack mixer built around 16 fully recallable XMAX-R mic preamps, FLEX DSP Fat Channel processing on every input and bus, six configurable FlexMixes, integrated 18x18 USB recording, onboard SD capture and Milan-certified AVB networking. Designed for front-of-house control, in-ear monitor systems, installed rigs and studio recording workflows, it delivers studio-grade processing with total system latency as low as 1.9 ms. Whether deployed standalone, used as a stagebox or integrated into a StudioLive ecosystem, the SE 16R brings precision and recallable control to professional environments.

16 Recallable XMAX-R Preamps With FLEX DSP Engine

At its core are 16 recallable XMAX-R analog mic preamps offering 0–60dB of gain, low noise performance and headroom up to +12dBu at unity gain. Powered by the PreSonus FLEX DSP Engine with 32-bit floating-point internal processing, every input and bus includes Fat Channel processing with nine State Space modeled EQ options and ten vintage-style compressor models. Engineers can shape tone and dynamics on every channel without external outboard, then store and recall settings instantly for repeatable results in both live and studio sessions.

Advanced Routing With Six FlexMixes and Dedicated FX

The SE 16R provides ten mix buses, including six FlexMixes configurable as AUX mixes, subgroups or matrix mixes. Two dedicated FX mixes with stereo returns supply onboard reverb and delay without sacrificing primary buses. Six DCAs enable grouped level control across channels for fast adjustments during live performance or broadcast mixing. Balanced 1/4" TRS and XLR outputs delivering up to +24dBu allow seamless integration with professional live sound systems and studio infrastructure.

Integrated 18x18 Recording and Hybrid Source Switching

Built-in recording tools position the Studio Live III SE 16R as both a digital mixer and USB audio interface. The bidirectional 18x18 USB 2.0 interface supports 24-bit recording at 44.1kHz or 48kHz, while onboard stereo SD card recording captures mixes directly in WAV format. Integration with PreSonus Capture enables Virtual Soundcheck for rehearsal playback and mix refinement. Each channel can independently switch between analog, USB, SD and AVB sources, supporting hybrid workflows that combine live inputs, multitrack playback and networked audio.

Milan-Certified AVB Networking and Wireless Control

Milan-certified AVB networking provides plug-and-play integration with StudioLive Series III consoles and stageboxes, making the SE 16R effective as a remote I/O rack or monitor mixer. Dual locking AVB ports and Ethernet control maintain stable connectivity, while optional AVB-D16 support enables Dante networking when required. Universal Control software allows full wireless mixing from macOS, Windows, iPad and Android devices, with Offline Editor support for preparing sessions in advance. QMix-UC gives performers personal monitor control from their mobile devices.

Compact 1U Design for Touring and Installation

Housed in a rugged 1U, 19" rack chassis weighing 8.6 lb., the StudioLive Series III SE 16R is built for touring, broadcast and fixed installation use. It features an IEC power connection with auto-ranging 100–230V operation, low 35W power consumption and an operating temperature range of 32˚–104˚ Fahrenheit. Combo XLR/TRS mic inputs, RCA stereo line inputs, balanced outputs, MIDI and USB connectivity complete a robust feature set designed for engineers who require recallable processing, flexible routing and integrated studio recording in a compact digital rack mixer.
