OVERVIEW

Need a vocal mic that does everything? Vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, drums, overheads ... you name it, the Shure SM27 does it.

With an incredible maximum SPL (sound pressure level) rating of 152dB, a very low noise floor (9.5dB), and pristine 20-20,000Hz response, the Shure SM27 cardioid condenser mic is the "desert island" mic which is equally at home in a high-end recording facility or a personal project studio.

Superior transient response is provided by an ultra-thin, 2.5 μm 1", 24 karat, gold-layered diaphragm. Add a Class A discrete preamp combined with premium electronic components, and the SM27 offers a pristine sound one would expect from a mic costing much more. The Shure SM27 includes a professional, rubber suspension shock mount and a velveteen soft storage pouch.

FEATURES
  • Uniform cardioid pattern for superior off axis rejection
  • Superior transient response from a low-mass large Mylar diaphragm
  • Flat, neutral frequency response for natural reproduction on stage or in the studio
  • 3-position switchable low-frequency filter helps reduce unwanted background noise or counteract proximity effect for consistent, extended low-end
  • Durable metal construction.
  • 3 separate mesh layers reduces wind and breath noise.
  • 15dB pad for performance consistency across a wider range of high SPL sources
  • Includes a rubber suspension shockmount ideal for isolating stand vibrations in recording applications, and velveteen storage pouch

Shure KSM27 Microphone

Comments about Shure SM27 Large Diaphragm Cond Mic with Shockmount and Bag:

I've had this microphone for 3 years and the more I use it, the more I want to use it.

If you don't need different patterns and caridoid works, then this microphone will certainly do the job. Maintaining proper distance is important in vocals. How many times have you heard that? But, maintain your distance, control your room acoustics, and the results will reward you with clarity and buttery smoothness.

Great microphone, good value. It's a Shure
Bass roll off, spl control.
It's a Shure.
It's a Shure. It's USA made.

SM27 Mic Great Studio Mic

By Sid

Comments about Shure SM27 Large Diaphragm Cond Mic with Shockmount and Bag:

The SM27 is always my mic of choice in the studio.
I love the SM27 condenser microphone in my studio. I use a SM58 when I sing out but when I record, I always use the SM27. I have recorded sounds, main vocals, backup vocals and this mic is great for singers like me with a powerful voice.
The results are great whether I'm singing softly close to it or if I have to step away from it in order to wail out some really dynamic vocals. I am a recording artist who works alone, creating my own instrument and vocal tracks. This mic has been a indispensable workhorse in my studio.
For 300 bucks you can't ask for a better mic in my opinion.

Comments about Shure SM27 Large Diaphragm Cond Mic with Shockmount and Bag:

I run this mic along with LR Baggs Venue pickups into my AER Compact 60-3 to amplify my Huss & Dalton and Gibson acoustics. I love the sound that I get and have received nothing but compliments and inquiries on what I am using to get such a great sound. I've also used for vocals both live and in the studio with great results. This mic is a workhorse and a fantastic value!

Comments about Shure SM27 Large Diaphragm Cond Mic with Shockmount and Bag:

I use this for vocals and for drum overheads. It sounds wonderful. It has a very smooth response from top to bottom, and I don't even need to use EQ with this microphone because of the low roll off switch on it. I wish I had more of them!

Comments about Shure SM27 Large Diaphragm Cond Mic with Shockmount and Bag:

I really like this mic. It is very versatile. I use two for drum overheads and they do a great job. They capture the full spectrum of frequencies naturally and transparently. They shine on vocals and acoustic guitar. A solid workhorse mic for a project studio.

Comments about Shure SM27 Large Diaphragm Cond Mic with Shockmount and Bag:

This is a perfect medium-sized condenser microphone. I prefer it to it's larger cousins of the KSM32 or the KSM44 - it gives a very clear sound that's slightly softened which is nice for so many situations. It's cardioid so there's a definite proximity response but that's part of the deal.

I've used this microphone to record vocals, acoustic guitar, french horn, banjo, and upright piano and it has done a good job for all of it. It may not be the perfect mic for all of it but it's still a great option. If you need to record a wide variety of things but don't want to shell out the money for a lot of mics, this would be a good choice.
