Comments about D'Addario EXL110BT Balanced Tension Lite Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

I anxiously awaited the chance to try these new strings from D'Addario. I recently got into blues a little bit, and perfecting the bending techniques can be a challenge if you're new to the blues feel. Anyway the un-equal tension of the G, B & E strings has always irked me a bit so I wanted to try these new balanced tension strings. While the tension is indeed "balanced", truthfully, they sound a little dead to me. I put the BT strings on my SG and compared with my Strat, which had regular D'Addario 10-46's. The tension difference was minimal at best (more noticeable at the lower frets) but the BT ones just didn't sound the same to me. Not nessecarily bad-sounding, just a little less bright. Maybe for extra-thick string sets the BT will be a good thing, but for more common med-gauge players, you probably won't even notice the difference.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110BT Balanced Tension Lite Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

This company has outdone themselves again. I've used XL10's 20+ years, and recently thought, what else might there be.I bought several different brands of strings that players I like are using, and they wouldn't last a week on my guitars. Now it is EXL110BT's until they top themselves yet again.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110BT Balanced Tension Lite Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

Great feel. You definitely notice how smooth they play both with your picking hand and fretting hand compared to the standard gauge. Balanced tension is for sure better to me. 10s seem to be the point where you get a jazzier tone compared to slinky sound of 9s. 10s are still easy to play and bend. Great strings.

Comments about D'Addario EXL110BT Balanced Tension Lite Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

I'm using a Stratocaster with a deluxe tremolo, LSR roller nut, and locking tuners. Without even using the term, the strings go out of tune! Normal playing and they won't hold up! The G is especially bad, you can expect it to drop down to an E if you Bend it at all. Horrible!

Been playing with EXL110 for 20 years before getting back a telecaster from my luthier sporting these balance strings. I don't know why some complain about the tone being dead or going out of tune, not been my experience at all. It has the very same tone as the regular XL110, just some of the strings have a slight difference of tension; actually my telecaster is staying in tune like a pitchfork with those and the overall feel of the instrument is awesome. It is my new go to set on both my Les Paul and Tele

Comments about D'Addario EXL110BT Balanced Tension Lite Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

I have always used Daddario strings and love the brand. I wanted to try the balanced strings to see if I felt any difference. Unfortunately I felt and heard a difference. If you have been playing on standard string sizes for years the feel takes a bit to get used to but not horrible. The real problem in the tone. It is very noticeable. The tone is dead compared to the Daddario strings in traditional sizes. It bugged me but I thought it might be a fluke or a set up issue with the guitar (Ibanez-s5470-Prestige) though I've never had issues with sound like that before. I tried another set that was a bit heavier gauge and tried all sorts of tension combinations..... No luck. They just sound bad. I'll be sticking with the traditional gauge Diaddario. Musicians Friend - Great as Usual!

Comments about D'Addario EXL110BT Balanced Tension Lite Electric Guitar Strings Single-Pack:

As a Bassist, I've been aware of the concept of "Balanced Tension" Strings for several year, and have moved from pre-packaged sets to making my own "Custom Sets" by purchasing Single Strings and making my own sets for my 4,5 & 6-string Basses. However, on the Electric Guitars I own and use for Songwriting and Continued Education on the Guitar, it took me longer to switch as I was comfortable to my purposefully-uneven "Lite Top/Heavy Bottom" sets. I'm glad to state, though, that I was able to transition to D'Addario's Balanced Tension "10s Set" within a fairly short amount of time. The Balanced Tension of all 6 strings makes more difficult chords easier to fret, and lead playing easier as transitioning from string to string allows for faster playing. Also, when one becomes accustom to string tension being the same for all, "digging in" becomes less of a factor in playing and string breakage lessens. Finally, the unamplified tone and volume of each string is a positive factor in practicing "unplugged" as well as plugged in and at playing volume.

As a Bassist primarily, the "Balanced Tension 10s" do feel light under my fingers which are used to Bass string gauges, and I am going to 1) have my Tech raise the action on my Electric Guitars, and 2) have my Guitar strung with the "Balanced Tension 11s" and tunes to C# re-setup in E-Standard and see if I'll prefer the heavier gauge as I am primarily a Rhythm Guitarist.
