OVERVIEW

Bright and long lasting.

D'Addario EXP46 Coated Classical Guitar Strings provide longer life and increased durability. You also get the brightness, clarity and sensitivity you've come to expect from D'Addario classical guitar strings. Here's how coated Pro Arte strings work: An ultrafine layer of EXP coating is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire which is then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire. The result is a built-in barrier against the corrosion and wear that can quickly sap your strings' life and your sound. And since the EXP coating is cross-linked to the wrap wire prior to winding, the strings sound fresh and bright.

Gauges - 29-33-37-29-36-46

New-string tone lasts 3 to 4 times longer than traditional guitar strings.

D'Addario is the world's largest manufacturer of strings for musical instruments. Many top guitarists won't play any other brand. Regardless of your playing style, D'Addario has a set of guitar strings that's right for you.

Comments about D'Addario EXP46 Coated Hard Classical Guitar Strings:

EXP46 Hard Tension strings have been a great find for me. I have often used EJ46 hard tension Pro Arte or Savarez red card strings on my Ramirez E4 classical guitar. You get great projection and brighter classical tone at the price of a stiffer action since these sets put about 90 lbs. on the neck. When I have used EJ45 normal Pro Arte strings on the same guitar, I have gotten a very warm tone and a much easier action due to the load reduction to 86 lbs. The EXP46 set has been a great compromise: You get both the brighter tone and the easier action since the load is only 87 lbs. The bottom 3 composite core strings on the EXP46 set stay within 3 cents of concert pitch for months and the top 3 strings (the same nylons as on the EJ46 set) only lose about 20 cents overnight and tune right up and stay in tune while playing. (Note: I know the correct technique for tying on the strings. That's probably required for best results.) The D'Addario claim is true: The sets last 3-4 times longer. The coating keeps the windings from oxidizing and slows the wear near the frets. If your classical guitar is very warm, necessitating hard tension strings, but you play better with less tension, this is the set for you.

Comments about D'Addario EXP46 Coated Hard Classical Guitar Strings:

After several months still going strong. The base strings (4th, 5th, and 6th) strings hardly ever require tuning. The other strings do fluctuate with temperature changes but always remain loud and clear. After over 30 years of playing guitar in my church choir I have come to like this set of strings the most. They are the best EVER!

Comments about D'Addario EXP46 Coated Hard Classical Guitar Strings:

I have been playing classical guitar in church choirs for over 30 years. These are by far the best strings I have ever used. Brilliant tone and sustain. They stay in tune much longer than other strings.
