Lots of sustain, lots of bass.
The best way to describe the DiMarzio Air Zone Electric Guitar Pickup is to say it's a vintage version of The Tone Zone. It's got the same low string-pull as our other Airbuckers for singing sustain, plus it has the big bass response and cool harmonics of The Tone Zone, with extra sensitivity and control. It's a great match for very hot amps, allowing the player to take full advantage of massive preamp gain without turning the sound to mud or fuzzy noise. It's also a great neck pickup for jazz players who need to get the hollow-body archtop sound from a solid body, and it offers exceptionally good split and series-parallel capability.
Recommended For: Bridge position primarily (see Tech Talk for neck position application) in solid body and semihollow body guitars.
Tech Talk: Ultra-fat PAF sound with more output. The dynamic range from soft to hard picking is very wide, and the combination of dual-resonance coils with the Airbucker magnetic field allows sustained notes to hang on to harmonic overtones longer, instead of becoming muddy as they fade. Will also work as a very warm, full neck pickup for jazz sound, and combine with Tone Zone, Super Distortion and Super 3 in bridge position.

This humbucker really rocks. You won't find a better one for any genre of music.
This is one of the best pickups I have owned. It is hot pickup with a classic sound that is really hard to beat for the price. This pickup's overtones are what I was after; depending on what you play they will differ accordingly. From jazz to metal this thing sings nicely.
Amazing pickup, I acheived the perfect sound that I wanted from it.
I can't describe how pleased I am with the sound of this pickup. I just got it and soldered it into the neck position on an Ibanez RG 321MH. It sounds so clean and full. It's just the greatest clean pickup you can imagine for a solid body guitar. If you play clean and have clean chops, this is the pickup for you. With an almost unnoticeable amount of reverb it sounds like a hollow body arch top, except cleaner and more controllable. Time to pack up the 81 Les. I don't think I'll ever put this one down. Warning: If you're sloppy, this pup might be a little unforgiving.
In my Les Paul Custom, this sounds oh so sweet. It put some serious boosts on my mid and low ends, which is exactly what a metal/core player needs.
I have bought this air zone this pick is really cool sound clean and warm you guy want to play sound like van halen this is the one you guys looking for clean and warm distortion try it with your ditortion all the way on it won't let you down this pick up.
I have this pickup in the neck, paired with The Tone Zone. What a pair! The sound is very much like semi-hollow body. Very warm and clean. Yet, when I want it to crunch...watch out! These pickups allow a great tonal rainbow. I play everything from worship to rock to prog, these do it all!!!
