OVERVIEW

Vintage sound made louder with more dynamic range.

The sound of a great vintage Tele bridge pickup - if you can find one - is almost magical. It blends elements that shouldn't be able to coexist: sizzle and warmth, sharp attack, and smooth sustain. In other words, it has depth. Single notes have weight and presence, and chords have detail and dimension. This was the goal for the True Velvet T Bridge. Controlled-tension coil winding, custom wire and hand-calibrated magnets give the True Velvet The real vintage sound, and double wax potting ensures that it's squeal-free.

Recommended For: Standard Tele bridge position.

Like the Twang King Bridge model, the sonic goal was to combine the best tonal qualities of several Broadcaster and Telecaster pickups from the '50's and early '60's. The difference is the size of the sound. The True Velvet T Bridge is bigger, and there's greater dynamic range, from soft to loud.

Comments about DiMarzio DP178 True Velvet T Bridge Pickup:

i am a dedicated tele guitar player, back in the 70s i was a gibson dedicated guitar player switched to the tele, put a set of these velvets in my $197.00 orange tele and a brass bridge plate strung strings thru body and i never in 55 years of guitar playing ever heard anything like it, i would not trade this guitar for any 3 grand guitar fender makes, sustain is unreal. put them in your tele you will see, getting another set for my tele copy i built, i am 77 years old fixed income wnd worth every dime i paid for them which is a great price, thanks muscians friend, love dealing with you, donnie

great pickup for tele upgrade

Comments about DiMarzio DP178 True Velvet T Bridge Pickup:

Purchased the True Velvet tele bridge pickup (and the matching neck pickup) for a low end Telecaster. Stock pickups were blah when clean and icepick-like when overdriven. True Velvets are a 100% improvement on an otherwise "cheap" guitar. Pickup provides clean mids, balanced bass and treble. Perfect for country, rockabilly, or pop. I'm sometimes amazed on the range of tones you can get when adjusting my amp a little bit. Pickups handle distortion/overdrive very well. I would not attempt to play death metal with this, but any hard rock/classic rock can be easily attained. Again, this pickup puts you in the "mud free zone" when you are rocking out. Be warned that this is not a noiseless pickup. Has an average amount of hum. And as a side note, the middle position of the True Velvet bridge and neck pickup is very, very stratlike. Highly recommended.

Comments about DiMarzio DP178 True Velvet T Bridge Pickup:

I recently purchased a Richie Kotzen Telecaster for its larger than average neck profile. It comes with a Dimarzio Twang King in ther neck and a Dimarzio Chopper T Humbucker in the bidge. I like the Twang King in the neck position, but I didnt care for the Choper T Humbucking pickup in the bridge. I wanted the traditional Telecaster twang and bite. I installed this Velvet T pickup with a new tone pot and capacitor and there it is. I got what I was looking for. Been pleased every time Ive played it since.

Comments about DiMarzio DP178 True Velvet T Bridge Pickup:

I purchased this pickup, along with a Dimarzio Twang King neck, to go into a parts telecaster made from a Suhr body and a very high quality Warmoth neck. The guitar had all the Suhr hardware on it, just a really nice instrument, but I wasn't happy with the pickups, which were tele sized humbucking pickups from another one of my favorite makers.
I expected these to sound good, but I didn't anticipate them rivaling some of the best tele tone and feel I've ever owned.
Beautiful tone, outstanding feel, dynamic touch that takes your tele through all the shadings of great telecaster sound. Thick enough for rock and roll (tweak the tone knob down a bit) and twangy enough to satisfy any tele connoisseur.
I have to mention the Twang King neck pickup here too, because the two pickups go together so perfectly.
Twang King neck pickups give you a lot of what you like about a good strat neck pickup, but their all tele. Deep throaty full range tone.
Dimarzio scores big with me on these pickups.

Comments about DiMarzio DP178 True Velvet T Bridge Pickup:

Just replaced the stock pups on my 2009 hey one tele and I was trepidatious at first that it wouldn't sound that great.. All of that was nonsense once I installed them and set the heights up where I liked they sounded amazing.. Exceptional dynamics I got a wide range of tones out of these pickups with just the volume and tone knob. Truly articulate they put out every thing you give them.. Buy a set they're worth it.

Comments about DiMarzio DP178 True Velvet T Bridge Pickup:

I bought a True Velvet T bridge pickup and put it in my MIM Tele with a Fender Twisted Tele neck pickup. This combination is unbelievable. The output of the True Velvet T is just a little higher than the Twang King. The two pickups are perfectly balanced which makes for a beautiful, bright sound from the middle position.

I tried living with my Tele's original single-coil (which sounded weak and thin) and a Hot-Rail (which sounded flat and dark)before trying the True Velvet T. Dimarzio's pick-up delivers great twang, bite and punch. I lean toward rock and blues and this pick-up's tone puts a huge smile on my ear everytime!
