The DW 9550 Universal Remote Hi-Hat System is equipped with DW's Universal Linkage Assembly and high-tech Ball Bearing Hinge. Works as a multi-position primary hi-hat or a versatile auxiliary hi-hat for secondary hat sounds and effects cymbals. The Lateral Cymbal Seat allows instant access for adjusting the bottom cymbal angle; a small detail that makes a big difference. All the heavy-duty 9000 Series features are standard: heavy-gauge steel tubing, integrated vise memory lock, and lateral cymbal seat adjustment. The 9550 comes complete with auxiliary pedal, MG1 and MG2 mounting clamps, and Universal Linkage with 2 extension options (stand shown sold separately).

Another solid DW stand

Comments about DW 9550 Universal Remote Hi-Hat Cymbal System:

Got this about a year ago to replace my old 5002 cable hi-hat, which was feeling sluggish from years of wear and tear. This stand feels like any DW 9000 hi hat stand. It is faster and more solid feeling than the cable hi-hat, and there is no lag time due to the heavy-duty linkage. One potential problem: If you sit low, this stand will feel too high, even at its lowest setting. DW would be wise to release a shorter version of this stand and add a drop clutch.

Comments about DW 9550 Universal Remote Hi-Hat Cymbal System:

I'm using this to replace my traditional Hihat stand, moving the hats right in front of the snare to "uncross" the arms...which is amazing! Totally opens up so many possibilities: I have a set of vibes to my left now, or a 2nd floor tom or 2nd snare or djembe....so much potential! This stand is totally fluid and feels JUST like my DW 9000 traditional pedal. KUDOS to DW

Great and versatile remote hihat stand

Comments about DW 9550 Universal Remote Hi-Hat Cymbal System:

I wanted to uncouple the pedal placement from the hat placement to gain a more efficient use of the pedal. The pedal and shaft drive work just as well as a normal pedal and the shaft looks really cool in shiny red.

It's a really expensive piece of equipment but I guess the market is fairly small so I got it anyway. It's really tall so I cut it in several ways: I cut the rod, I cut the top part of the stand, I removed the metal shoe at the bottom and finally I cut the brace around the chain so it ends just below the chain. Then I placed it so the hat sits right in front of my snare, a little to the left of where a tom might be. This created a lot of new ideas.

I've heard other people say it's a tall stand so just get a pipe cutter and a hacksaw if that's you, and get to work, it's not hard.

Comments about DW 9550 Universal Remote Hi-Hat Cymbal System:

I have setup my hi-hat in front of my snare (center) for over a year on my electronic kit, it is natural and saves me needing to keep moving my hands around to groove and avoid sticks hitting. This is the answer to the future of simple setups.
I can now play more hi-hat patterns with both hands in the prime location of straight infront of me!
This has no lag, no issue especially playing funky grooves. two lengths of rods for the high hat height and two lengths of aluminum extension to get the right width from the hi-hat to the pedal.
This has ZERO instructions on how to setup but I have been doing setups for years so it was not an issue to play around and figure it out.
Playing my next gig at The Bitter End in NYC so I will test out the on stage setup (10-15mins between bands).

        Service and delivery comments:

Was originally delayed for 3 weeks but then came 1 week early so that was a surprise.
