Great replacement pickup!

Comments about EMG 60-X Active Humbucker Pickup:

I went out and grabbed one of these when I couldn't get much variety out of my ESP LTD Viper 400's stock configuration. It had dual EMG 81s, I replaced the neck p/u with this one - what a difference! The 60-X has a warm, velvety clean tone and has just the right amount of punch and texture when overdriven. If you already have EMGs in your axe the update is a snap; there is a solderless connector - just unplug the old and plug in the new. Then adjust the height to your desired tone/volume, and play away!

Comments about EMG 60-X Active Humbucker Pickup:

Stellar sounding pickup. Dropped this in the neck position of one of my Les Paul Supreme's. I really love the sound of it. Smooth, silky, pristine. Sounds great through both lead and clean channels. The X series is great! They clean up nice like a passive when you roll of the volume. I'd be curious to try it in a bridge position. EMG rules.

      EMG 60-X

Comments about EMG 60-X Active Humbucker Pickup:

I play blues, R&B, metal and rock. I will not lie to you, this pickup is a very good one. This is my first EMG pickup so I cannot give a comparison to the older EMG 60, but I can tell you that this has a good clean tone (when the volume and tone is rolled back). Overdriven, this pickup still maintains its clarity while still having that nice, warm tone (think a more modern Warren Haynes tone).
Extremely satisfied with the overdriven sound, and even more satisfied with the clean tones. Now you do have to roll back the volume and tone to get a clean tone. I have a bugera 6262 and I get pretty damn good clean tones, (not those metallica "cleans", I'm talking Isley Brothers type cleans). You have to pick/strum lightly though. I am very happy with the quality and I recommend this neck pickup.
Kinda pricey for just one pickup, but oh well. I'm not complaining.

Comments about EMG 60-X Active Humbucker Pickup:

I bought this pickup to put into the neck position of an LTD I have had for years. I had run a Seymour Duncan Livewire Metal in the bridge since 2008 with no neck pickup and decided I wanted that sound versatility back. When I saw this as an "open box" I immediately added it to my cart. I knew I liked the 60 as one of my other guitars has one in the neck so it was exactly what I wanted, sort of... After some planned out splicing to convert the Livewire to work with EMG's plug-and-play I thought I was off to the races, not so much. I quickly realized the X-series requires and active tone pot that would not work with the Duncan. After careful consideration I realized I never use the tone pot so I got a second EMG volume pot and just run a volume for each pickup and a 3 way switch between them. It also take the 18 volt mod very well , this was a necessary mod because the old livewire metal only runs on 18 V. On 18 V this thing has all the warm creamy notes I would expect from the 60 with some added bite that made it a very good match for the Duncan.

Comments about EMG 60-X Active Humbucker Pickup:

I don't know what SoFly is talking about. They said it's muddy when playing rhythm. I think it has a great sound, it has an even tone that is smooth with or without distortion. Maybe they should check how they have it wired or swap out the pots or buy a Fender

Comments about EMG 60-X Active Humbucker Pickup:

I wanted a gold chrome pickup for the neck of my B C Rich,so I decided to try this one, since the EMG-60 is my favorite in the neck position. It didn't disappoint at all!I don't know exactly what they did for these X pickups, but the sound it gets is amazing!Chrystal clear tone, clean or distorted. It combines well with the 81 in the bridge position too.I don't know what the other guy was saying aout muddy tone from the 5th position down.I didn't have that problem at all.Give it a try-you may fall in love with it.

Comments about EMG 60-X Active Humbucker Pickup:

I bought this pickup to put in the neck position of my LP. Don't get me wrong, I like EMG and this pickup sounds great...but only above the 5th fret or so when playing with any overdrive/distortion. Below that the tone becomes a muddy noisey mess and is basically worthless for rhythm playing. This is not just my opinion, it is often the first comment I get from people who hear me attempt to play rhythm on the EMG 60x. I own numerous other guitars with active pickups; so I am aware that as the battery dies in an active pick up, the tone tends to get fuzzier. So for the record I have tried it with a fresh battery and the problem persists. The EMG 89XR in the bridge position has no tone problems and sounds amazing, I'm thinking about replacing the 60x with an 81x or even another 89x. EMG got close with this one, but BUYER BEWARE of the 60x and its fuzzy/muddy tone as a neck pickup.
