I also have the hot rod deville with these preinstalled by fender. The amp sounds great for the money. I've had the amp 4 years and just swapped out these tubes for a set of high gain jj tubes. My amp went from average to boutique in a matter of minutes. Now all I need is 4 of those new 10" alnico gold speakers that celestion is coming out with this year and I'll be in heaven. The reason I got the deville was because my strat never sounded good on any valve amp. I always used to think that sound depended on your guitar. So when I was younger I always bought quality american guitars. I've come to realise that quality american guitars are works of art. They are superior craftmanship and play well. The action is great and they never have problems. However the sound does not depend so much on the guitar as it does on the tubes. I used to play my sg all the time and my strat gathered alot of dust. But since I got really good tubes I fell in love with my strat again. And now the sg is gathering dust. Hmm maybe Clapton and Townsend discovered the same thing!
I have used these since they came standard on the Hot Rod Deville 410 I bought a while ago (which I also highly recommend!), and these tubes not only last a long time (they were factory installed, and now its 4 years later), but they give wonderful sound to my amp. Added with Groove Tube 12AX7's, these give crisp clean and warm distortion: all with the genuine blues tone a blues guitarist seeks. I'd say get them!
