I play bass fulltime in a gigging rock band on the usual club circuits. I use this tuner in the "tuner send" feature on my SWR SuperRedhead. Main two basses are a Rickenbacker 4003 and a Hofner 500/1 or a 500/2.I've used this tuner four nights a week in smokey bars and dives for about two years and have had no problems. Since it sits on top of my amp it gives quick, accurate and easy-to-read tuning on the fly. A quick flick of the speaker off button, check the open strings and harmonics, speaker on and off you go. Great!I can't seem to find a power supply that will run it correctly, even the multi-selector models. Since our shows are the basic four-hour club gig, I get about two-to-three shows before battery replacement. Only complaint is the price for a plastic housing. It finally died on me last night and I had to use a backup. It's a good tuner for the working the musician. You probably will not want to go back to your old pedal or rack mounts. But, buy two of them so you have a backup.

The ST-1 looked great in the pictures, but in reality, it is cheaply made, light-weight plastic. Fit and finish is pretty bush-league, and battery life is mediocre. It tunes fairly accurately, but because of it's lack of LEDs, it is very easy to overshoot and tuning can take longer than it should. Not cool when you're on stage! I was hoping for something with a little more to weight to it so it doesn't rattle off of my rig, but this toy can't weigh much more than an ounce. Even for the low price, there are better choices. Better luck next time Fender.

    Do not hesitate to buy.

Ok, just to start, I am a pro musician and after trying this tuner, I sold my rack mount tuner and haven't looked back since. Its cheap, so buy two! Someone said their's fell apart. Try taking care of your gear, and it won't do that. This thing is so accurate and quick to followyour notes, you can actually play arpeggios and see the notes you are playing. Also, it has a mic which I use to check if I'm singing on key. It has NO bypass, but if you know anything about tone, you know that the signal coming after your tuner SHOULD NEVER meet your signal chain again. In other words, plug it into the aux out of your amp or the extra output of a pedal, and you will be just fine. Later-

Great tuner, easy to use. However mine quit working after about a year. I'll probably buy another one, though I wish the quality was better.

    Does job well

Huge display is a live performance bonus, tunes extremely accurately, best built-in tuning mic I've ever used. My only concern - the plastic housing. One good stomp and this thing is done.

    do not buy this tuner

i bought two of them - one died completely, the other crackles constantly. it's a weird sort of noise, like a preamp tube dying or something. does it no matter the battery configuration.spend your money on something else, this one is just plain bad.

    no good

    By Dave S-aG4ua

    from East Northport, NY

i bought this tuner about 4 months ago, and it's a piece of garbage. it worked for about a month, but now it rarely works, but still serves as a bypass, only it doesn't pick up the notes. DO NOT BUY!

    Darn Good Tuner

    By CBGB_man

    from Northampton, MA

I've had one of these for two years and got online to get a second one. It's fast, accurate, and I've had no problems with it breaking even after or cats knocked off the couch (several times). It's easy to read from a distance which is a BIG plus for me (very bad eyes). As far as battery life goes, turn it off when your not using it and it shouldn't be an issue.

    Awesome

I got this tuner with my fender acoustic start up kit 2 years ago. I have since got wildfire 30 amp and digitech rp80 multieffects pedal that have built in tuners in them and I much prefer this tuner to either of those. Beginners should get this! The only reason it got a 9 on quality is because it has a relatively short battery life (probably about 15) but that's not really a problem if you don't leave it on over night or something.

The best tuner I own for this price

I have used this tuner countless times on stage and it has saved my life. The huge LED display stands out while you're on a dark stage. The tuning response is extremely accurate. Plus, it is one of the only small tuners that could pick up the low B-string on my 5-string bass.
