Comments about Gibraltar Basic Rack Bag:
I purchased this Gibraltar rack bag as a replacement for my old one as the inside liner was getting a bit tattered. This new version is a bit different.
- My old version's interior plastic molding was a rigid half-tube which allowed easy access & visibility to an open surface on which to place your hardware and puzzle it together for the most efficient arrangement. This new version has a different plastic molding on the inside; It comes folded flat with an opening aligned with the outer bag zipper, and is less rigid than the old style to allow it to flex as you pile stuff in. This change in design appears to me to be solely for the purpose of shipping or storing the bag when not in use, since it can be folded when empty. However because of this envelope style, it is more difficult to carefully arrange your hardware, and since the molding has resistance, it tends to result in your hardware being piled up with more (IMO) potential for scraping against each other in transport. Since I bought this to house my brand new shiny chrome Gibraltar rack, that is a concern. I may end up using my old bag until it breaks.
-The new bag does not have the plastic tube covering in the handle as the old one had. That was a bad omission considering the potential weight from the hardware.
-One big bad design flaw in both the old bag and the new bag is that there is only one handle in the center of the bag; There are no handles on each end of the bag to allow two people to carry it. Wouldn't that be nice for a bag that has the potential to waste so much loaded with hardware ?
