Comments about Gibraltar Flat-Base Cymbal Stand with Brake Tilter:

Nice retro look, light(er) weight and sturdy. Back in the 70s when we were gigging clubs with music loud enough to make your ears bleed, "heavy duty" was a necessity for both stability and looks, and in place of a gym membership. Playing jazz now in more mature venues, these stands look right, and are much lighter to schlep. I've got one with a big heavy Zildjian 22" ride that I bought in 1976, and it holds it fine.

A modern take, but not very effective, or light!

Comments about Gibraltar Flat-Base Cymbal Stand with Brake Tilter:

This is a modern take on the classic stands from the 60's, This is a good quality stand, but only give it 2 stars for a few reasons: 1. This stand is not any lighter than Gibraltar's basic, lightweight double braced boom stand. I know because I have both stands. Weighed them on my postal scale. This flush base stand is actually just a bit heavier. You won't be getting any significant relief in your hardware case, unless you happen to be using massive cymbal stands that weigh 20 pounds each. 2. The footprint this stand takes up is very large, certainly larger than most "regular" tripod stands. Because of this, they are difficult to integrate into your setup. It's almost impossible to use two right next to each other. The legs are much longer than the classic 60's stands..
If you're looking for the true vintage vibe (and much less weight) I would recommend the DW Ultralight Cymbal Stands or the Tama Classic cymbal stands. Those are both very close to the original Ludwig 60's model, and are significantly lighter than this (or any other) stands on the market.

This Gibraltar stand is of good quality and well made, but, in my opinion, fails in both areas it was trying to succeed in.

Comments about Gibraltar Flat-Base Cymbal Stand with Brake Tilter:

Picked up two of these after they were recommended by another drummer. I was surprised at the total package of being very stable and light weight. Perfect for the gigging drummer that's tired of hauling around heavy double braced stands. I have an 18" crash on one and a 20" ride on the other. However, I wouldn't recommend these for the drummer w/ long power toms on large bass drums. They may not go high enough for those type kits.

Comments about Gibraltar Flat-Base Cymbal Stand with Brake Tilter:

After buying three of these stands, as well as a snare and hi hat stand, it didn't take long to convince me these were they way to go. I recently bought a third cymbal stand. Great product !
