Comments about JBL MTC-2P Wall Mount Kit:
For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to get my JBL Control 2P speakers off my desk and onto the wall. Having installed numerous home theater and audio systems I thought it would be an easy task. I looked at a bunch of speaker mounts and saw that JBL sold a mount kit designed for these speakers. It arrived and I mounted the wall brackets and ball mounts to the speakers. I mounted the speaker and tightened the locknut hand tight and the speaker wouldn't hold in position. I gradually tightened the nut with the supplied steel rod and got to the point where the speaker slowly drooped until it hit the wall. I repositioned the speaker and attempted to tighten the locknut to stop the movement. It didn't move and just cracked and the speaker hit the wall. Being kind of heavy handed I thought maybe I over tightened the part so I tried the other speaker. This was the one with the amplifiers and inputs so it was heavier. This one never did tighten It drooped and as I carefully tightened the nut it wouldn't hold position. Finally it also snapped. I contacted JBL twice with no response. Frustrated, I bought another set thinking there must be a bad batch. Wrong! Right now the speakers are propped in position by 2 pieces of styrofoam. Wasted money on 2 sets of mounts only to have the speakers propped on the wall with foam... Sadly it doesn't look like these were made to handle heavier speakers even though they are specifically sold for these. I've seen cheesy mounts for cheap home theater speakers that are tougher than these. Save your money and just prop up you monitors with wire and styrofoam. It's cheaper and less irritating.
