I've used my UMI Precision Trombone Stand for about ten years now. I use it for rock, where I usually have plenty of stage space, and for chamber and symphony settings where I sometimes have very little. It folds up more compact and secure than my On-Stage stands (which are better for strictly home use--if they're just staying put), and while the legs stick out more than other stands, it's so stable that if it gets kicked it's still not likely to fall (mine never has). I've used it mostly for my small horn and flugelbone, but also for my large tenor and my bass bone, and it works just as well as it did when it was new. It's a great stand for all "standard" trombones (dunno about sopranos, and I doubt it would work with a contrabass).

I do not possess sufficient finger strength in order to tighten the under-sized knobs enough to prevent the stand from collapsing. Since there are clearance issues that prevent retrofitting larger knobs, I simply acquired (from the hardware store) the same screws without knobs. This of course means that one must use a tool to tighten and loosen the screws but at least it's now possible to sufficiently tighten the screws (it's now also possible to over-tighten them). After 6 months use, the middle screw threads on the stand-body became stripped-out rendering the stand useless. After hours of brain-storming, drilling and filing, I was able to fabricate a fix for the middle screw position using yet another hardware store item. What a hassle!

Comments about K&M Precision Trombone Stand:

This stand exceeded our expectations. Needed one that would work well in a high school band room as well as at local concerts. The stand has easily withstood kids bumping into it without so much as a wobble - important in a crowded practice room or stage situation. It's easy to handle and store.

Comments about K&M Precision Trombone Stand:

This is a very nice trombone stand and should work with any tenor trombone since it is adjustable. Very stable tripod legs. It is not the same as the K&M bass trombone stand which is much heavier. I'm using this currently with a single F attachment trombone and it works well, and with a sock or cloth bag over the top it works better with a large bell.

Comments about K&M Precision Trombone Stand:

This is about the best made stand of this type I've ever come across . My only complaint is that using the bell which is a fragile component of a trombone, to support it's weight is not the best way to do it. A better way is to support it by the hand grips. I have not seen this type in a long while and I wish this company would offer one in the same great quality as the one being reviewed. This would be particularly effective for larger heavier tenors with f attachment or bass trombones.

Comments about K&M Precision Trombone Stand:

Very well constructed stand. Takes most of the worry about your horn tipping over. The only real down size, is that for maximum protection/stability, the legs spread out quite far.

I'm very pleased with the product.

Comments about K&M Precision Trombone Stand:

I have used this stand in the past for another instrument that I own and I have found it to be superior to all other stands. It is very sturdy and stable. When the instrument is in place it is always very secure. The only minor drawback is that the stand is a bit heavy but that is also a plus since the weight of the stand helps with its stability. It is the only piece of equipment that I have ever purchased that has a 5 year warranty!!

I just received the K&M precision t-bone stand, and while it is a good stand, it doesn't look like the one in picture. The picture shows angled legs that would provide a better support, this looks like the cheaper K&M stand, but the shipping info states it is the precision stand.

This is equal to my UMB stand! Just about anything K&M makes is superb. A result of fine German engineering and attention to detail.

This particular stand is best for all t-bones becasue it is so stable. Anyone who has ever had somebody accidentally brush against your horn and it falls over stand and all, knows what I mean!
