OVERVIEW

Rich tone should last as long as the inspiration does.

Martin SP Lifespan strings are the next level in studio performance. Treated for long life, they repel dirt, grit and other environmental elements that can quickly alter the sound of your strings. The treatment is so incredibly thin, you won't even know it's there. SP Lifespans are designed to last longer and sound better so you can play on! This is a 3-pack.

Not too impressed with the tone. Just not quite the crisp edge or clean ring I was hoping for. No real dynamics on a very expensive guitar. They feel very nice though. I hate the open, doubled up strings in each paper pack inside a paper box! 1st and 4th etc.. Strings are affected by air and humidity and having open paper packs does not help matters at all especially in Florida in the summer. I bought mine as a deal of the day. I see why. They were probably old and they needed to move a bunch. It's hard to tell as they have no discernable packaging date on them but the tone kind of reflected that they were just old and exposed for too long.. Or at least they sounded older than usual for a coated string. Overall I don't think I'll try them again just to find out but they are nice enough to keep as backups and just for a different type of tone. I have enough acoustics to use them on lesser value guitars. They still have enough sustain and clarity to serve their purpose. We'll see how long they last! Overall, Not bad, just not great. If you're a jammer or in a band, not a soloist looking for excellence..and you can get a deal on them and try 'em out they are worth a try, if you get a deal.

Comments about Martin MSP7100 SP Lifespan Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings (3-Pack):

I'm in my 60's, been playing in public since I was 12. I've been getting paid to play since I was 12. I'm not a professional in the respect that I don't make my living picking, but know this, if you don't have good strings on your axe it ain't gonna sound good.
That being said, these are good full sounding strings. I use them on a Martin Preforming Artist series guitar. These strings were designed by Martin to go on that guitar so I use them and can't recommend them highly enough. They sound great. They are consistent in their quality.

Comments about Martin MSP7100 SP Lifespan Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings (3-Pack):

Been stringing guitars for over 40 years. Have I broke a few? Sure. There was a very loose wrap on the end of the 6th string and ball, didn't do anything other than slowly tune it up, wasn't even using a peg winder and it just broke. I was looking for long life, so much for that.

I got this same 3-pack at the end of June 2015 on the SDOTD. Now (October 2015) here they are back again. The strings are ok (not "Wow" but ok), but I have to wonder why they have become Stupid Deals multiple times recently, unless they're just not selling. And when something's not selling, there's usually a reason. Hmmm...

Play out 2-3 times a week (3 hour sets no breaks) in Austin Tx. Even with the Texas heat they last 1-2 weeks. Use the sustain on the D string to know when it's time to change the stings.

Comments about Martin MSP7100 SP Lifespan Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings (3-Pack):

These strings came highly recommended by a friend that's been playing for years. When I first put them on my Martin, they sounded phenomenal. It gave my Martin the fullness of a Taylor without the tinny high end. Unfortunately, the sound quality diminishes quickly. These strings lose their vibrance after about 4-5 hours of play time. Very disappointing. For their price, they ought to last much longer than that. I'll probably give Elixirs a try next time.

I waited a week of playing on the strings before writing this review, because my first impressions were so poor. Well, they still sound thin and sound worse than the old strings I replaced. I use either Elixir (if I don't think I'll play that often) or 80/20 Martin's. I'm surprised Martin put their name on these strings.

I was surprised how poor these sounded with Martin on the package. I use either Elixir or the 80/20 Martin strings. I put them on my Martin and was really disappointed. I've waited two weeks before writing this review to be sure that it wasn't just that I was in a bad mood...but but still quite disappointing. I bought a 3 pack for cheap, so I guess I should be surprised. Martin has clearly outsourced these to a different manufacturer. I'll go back to the 80/20 or the Elixir if I think I'm going to electric for a while.

I have used Martin strings for a long time. Then went to Elixir because of the coating and long lasting quality. Now I'll be going back to Martins now that they have a longer life. The brightness is still there and that is what I was looking for.

I am a semi pro musician, been playing guitar and bass for decades. My go-to since the 80's for acoustic strings has been D'Addario phosphor bronze. Anything else is usually disappointing, including the Martins I've tried before. I thought I'd give the Martin Lifespans a shot on the "Stupid Deal" and wow, they sound every bit as good as D'Addarrios if not better. We did just a spontaneous guitar duo jam at party, and 3 people came up to tell me how great the Gibson sounded. It was the strings. And if I can get a little more "lifespan" from them vs. the D'Adarrios, I will absolutely continue to buy them.

Great buy per string, but not sealed well individually

Strings were not wrapped in a way to extend life before being put on guitar. Otherwise, excellent strings at a bargain price.
