Works Great!!!

Comments about Meinl Direct Drive Cajon Pedal:

OK, I'm a big Meinl fan. Their congas, bongos, cajons, even gigbags are superior products and priced reasonably. I use the pedal with Meinl's Headliner cajon which IMO is also a bargain. The pedal design is one of relative simplicity and works perfectly. The beater is foam and quite soft but still produces a big sound, without risk of cracking the cajon frontplate. Adjustment is certainly sufficient to enable setting it for your preferences. Pedal seems very solid and should last. Included is a cool key/tool which snaps into a slot on the pedal base and makes no unwanted noise from vibration. I'm not a big fan of cable activated pedals since the cable can be lost or broken. This pedal is a winner!!! Get it!

Comments about Meinl Direct Drive Cajon Pedal:

So far, this pedal seems sturdy. Most of these types of cajone foot pedals have gotten bad reviews regarding dependability, mostly due to the cable system. However, this one doesn't have the cable system and it seems sturdy. I was originally concerned about having that bar instead of an actual foot pedal, but our percussionist is not having any issues with it. It works fine.

Comments about Meinl Direct Drive Cajon Pedal:

Meinl's direct drive cajon pedal is a great improvement over unreliable cable pedals. The direct connection to the beater allows for a excellent beater response without any delay. I did find that it takes a while to get use to the pedal arm that sticks out quite a bit from the cajon itself and I found that I stumbled over the extension more than once (fortunately not while performing). I did find that there was a noticable noise that came from the play in the mechanism arms, but I readjusted the linkage and put some silicone grease on the connections and it quieted down. Now for the negatives; the attachment to the cajon requires constant tightening in order to keep the pedal from moving around. Also, if you have feet on your cajon you need to put a shim of some sort under the pedal to take up the gap between the pedal and floor. The most frustrating experience I had with this purchase is that when it arrived the pedal's beater arm was assembled backwards so that the action moved away from the cajon. It took me a while to figure out how to reposition the beater mechanism so that it was correct. Meinl needs to have better quality control on this item as not many purchasers will have the Allen wrenches and other tools needed to correct the faulty assembly. The quality of the pedal overall is very good and the delivery from Musician's Friend was quick and efficient, but Meinl has to improve their assembly quality control to avoid customer frustration.

Comments about Meinl Direct Drive Cajon Pedal:

Great design and sturdy. Beater head is on a ball joint so it self levels on the Cajon face. The backing on the beater is plastic so that's a bit of a concern but hopefully it will hold up. Otherwise it seems pretty bullet proof and the sensitivity is great.

Bought this after seeing lots of cable pedals break during sets. Just got it. It is fast and the beater sounds great miked through the rear port. Seems to be sturdy and easy to adjust.

lightweight, but well built. I reversed the pedal direction from right to left to allow me to use 2 pedals on one cajon.
