OVERVIEW

A guitar strap built to last and save your body during long performances.

In creating the GS1 Betty Guitar Strap, Mono Cases has gone the extra mile to provide you with a guitar strap like no other. Its lightweight construction belies that it is made of indestructible materials and has smart features to provide the ultimate playing experience. With a classic, minimalist design sporting hi-tech materials, the GS1 brings the past into the future with a feel that must be worn to be believed.

The GS1's wide wale design distributes the weight of heavy instruments. A thin, memory-foam core reduces fatigue during long hours of play. A smooth, Neoprene underbelly (like the kind found in wetsuits) lets the shoulder breathe and slides nicely across your shirt or skin. This lets you forget about your instrument and concentrate on your music.

These straps are built for life on stage. Get creative with the hidden mini pocket, which stashes picks, a slide, or whatever, right where you need it for quick access during play. They also include Matte black steel hardware and military-grade webbing for those extreme wear performances.

GS1's will fit standard bass and guitar strap pins.

I'm a bass player, so our instruments tend to be heavier than most guitars (Les Pauls being a possible exception). For many years, I used Pro Comfort Bass Strapps exclusively. They are great, extremely comfortable straps.

But I'm a pretty big guy, and eventually found that the Comfort Strapp Long version was just a tad too short. While the Extra Long is long enough, the "sweet spot" of the strap didn't sit where it should on my shoulder.

Reluctantly, I decided to try the Mono Betty (Long) several years ago. Voila!! Plenty of length, and ALSO very comfortable. It has become my go-to strap. I've been building my collection the last few years and now have enough Betty straps for all my basses. (I like having a strap for each bass so I can leave them on the bass all the time.) These are great straps. A little bit of "grip" on the back, but not so much that it yanks your shirt all over the place if you move around.

The only thing I don't care for is the bright white "MONO" printed prominently on each strap. I find it rather garish, but I came up with a solution if anybody is interested. I simply go over the "MONO" printing with a black permanent marker. It is still visible from up-close, but not from a distance. I actually think it looks kind of classy blacked out! (See pics below, but while the "After" pic looks grey, it's just because of the flash. Plus, the "Before" pic is still in it's plastic shipping sheath.)

One suggestion, if you're listening, Mono folks: Please consider offering The Betty in a brown shade or two. Yes, black goes with everything, but some browns would be a welcome addition.

I needed a quality, long strap to use with my Epiphone Jack Casady bass. This strap is extra long and very comfortable. The strap ends are very soft leather, and the button holes are already wallowing out. I fear the holes will soon wear out and the strap will come off the bass while I am playing. I was hoping to not use straplocks due to the button orientation - but I guess I will have to put a set on. Overall a great strap, but overpriced for what you get.

Comments about MONO M80 Betty Guitar Strap:

I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
Was looking for a strap to relieve the pressure on my shoulder and back from playing for longer periods of time. This strap does the trick. It really helps! The shorter one is fine for me, but think it would be too short for a larger person or a man.
KInda pricey, but worth it.

Comments about MONO M80 Betty Guitar Strap:

This strap is just too good to be true. Great looks and great functionality..it really has it all AND at a great price. Most comfortable strap I have EVER had. Worth every penny. The design totally takes the weight off your shoulders and distributes it quite nicely. I use a heavy Yamaha 1200S bass and a Michael Kelly Patriot Custom 6-string which is primarily heavy mahogany. I've also had both shoulder and back problems and several surgeries. Wouldn't leave home..or practice without "Betty" around me. Puts every other strap I've ever had to shame.

Comments about MONO M80 Betty Guitar Strap:

I have owned MANY straps - some more expensive than this one, some less - but NONE compare to the Mono Betty. I seriously own 6 of these straps in various colors/materials. I use them for bass (my main instrument) as well as electric and acoustic guitars. So comfortable and they look awesome. NEVER have they slipped off the peg. The Best. I won't use anything else. Now if only I could get a few free straps...

      Sa-Weet!

By Bbmajor7 - The School Teacher

      from Ocean Springs, MS

      See all my reviews

Comments about MONO M80 Betty Guitar Strap:

As an elementary school music teacher my guitar and strap get a workout everyday. Sometimes the guitar and strap come on and off my neck 40 or 50 times in one day. With a pair of Schaller strap-locks on this strap I truly have NO concerns at all about the possibility of it failing.

I haven't bought a second strap to use for "outside-of-school" playing, but that will be remedied soon!

Now for the number one most incredible thing about this strap - It is so incredibly comfortable! This is like the tempur-pedic mattress of guitar straps. If you could attach clouds to silk and make a guitar strap out of it I'm not sure it would be any more comfortable than this strap already is.
Being a strap, you'd think the features would be limited to "holds guitar up", but in this case that's not true. The cushioning, the leather, the adjuster, and especially the pick pocket on the GS1 Betty Guitar strap by MONO are all PERFECT!
While I haven't had this strap for years, yet, It just feels like quality materials. Every stitch looks strong. The materials themselves are sturdy and of a good quality.
I was so impressed with their quality I recently bought a MONO iPad case.
It has never bothered me to pay for something that I'm going to enjoy using and will have for a long time.

      Mono Betty Strap (short)

Comments about MONO M80 Betty Guitar Strap:

Very nice strap. I unfortunately had to return it because it was too long for me. It says it's a ''Short'' strap but even after adjusting it, my bass would hang too low. To the guys at Mono: I think having 2 holes (for the strap buttons) on each end of your Betty Strap would solve this problem. Perfect example of this is the Comfort Strapp.

          Pros:
          Strap feels like good quality
There is a little pocket to hold a pick. That is nice
It looks cool, and it is very comfortable for SHORT periods of time

          Cons:
After long periods of time (e.g. a 3 hour gig), it starts to hurt your shoulder just like most other straps from my experience.

          Overall:
It is a good strap, but, in my opinion, not the miracle of comfort the company and some people claim it to be. A nice alternative might be the Comfort Strapp. That works really well for me

Very comfortable, originally bought my first because it was available in LONG size. Bought 2 more right after. I have some back issues and the wide padding absolutely eases the pain. Also keeps instrument in place, strap doesn't slide around like so many others. The pocket for the pick is a cool idea.

            great product. would buy again.
No bells and whistles (exept for the cute pocket), just quality.
Ridiculously stout. I had to take a knife and loosen the ends for the strap to come off easily. In other words, strap locks aren't necessary. *Note: ends need to be loosened on an acoustic guitar with an endpin, or it will pull your endpin out.
it makes my banjo feel weightless, which is priceless.

this strap is great for me. im a bassist and im around 6' and hang my bass around my waist and this strap is the perfect size for that. i looked around soo much for one like this and finally found it. very comfortable and helps slightly with neck heavy intruments but wont help as much as a suade strap but i have looked all over and cannot find a suade strap long enough for me. i will be buying this strap for all my basses!

The build quality is excellent. I feel like this strap will be with me for a long time. I use it on my bass which I sling a little low, but being a bigger guy, I just need more room in general. We'll see how this strap stands the test of time, but the build quality is VERY good, so I am not worried about purchasing another strap for a long time. It is about as comfortable as other wide straps, which is very good as well.

Comments about MONO M80 Betty Guitar Strap:

I have to plug the neotech super axe straps I have been using for over 10 years now. They are right up there with the Mono strap for quite a bit less money. I had a few reasons to try the Mono strap and I am extreamly pleased that I did. #1- I wore out my first Neotech and wanted to replace it. (Using it since 2002) #2- I bought the Mono bass gig bag and LOVE it, so I was curious to try their strap. #3- I sprained my left shoulder, and although the Neotech straps were great, I wondered if maybe there was something that would work even better to releive the inflamed joint. Frankly I'm surprised. It seems even more comfortable than the Neotech, or padded leather Levy straps I use for my other basses. If there is one thing that concerns me about the Mono strap, it's the powder coated metal attachment they use. Functionally it's fine, but if you like to leave the strap locked on to your instrument while it's in the gig bag, or case, it might scratch or ding the finish. I've had no trouble with the plastic used on the other straps in that regaurd. And finally, a strap long enough for a grizzley bear sized bass player like me!:-)

Have already used this on several gigs with great results. I play a Strat and it's easy on my shoulders and back. Excellent padding. Really glad I came across this on Muscian's Friend website.

I have had heavy guitars for years and the back pain to prove it. I've searched a long time to find a guitar strap that actually doesn't cut into your back and is comfortable. This is the one. It is amazing what a good guitar strap this is. I'm going to purchase a couple more for some of my other guitars.

Great strap for bad backs! I have had a spinal fusion (which basically means I have 2 rods in where my spine used to be.) So back pain is always an issue when it comes to live shows. This little strap gives great support and comfort for long gigs!
Has a neat little pick holder behind the strap. No more lost picks!
High quality strap, metal brackets and pins.
Wish it were a little cheaper, but still worth it!
