These AXL beveled pickguards are a real bargin! The same type in a custom pickguard (tor-tis brand) would cost $30. The downside is that AXL only offers this design. If you are looking for a vintage style (beveled)tortoise pickguard and don't want to spend much money then you can't go wrong with this one. I have purchased Greven pickguards in the past. I can tell you that they are no better than this one.

I'm a luthier and I need pickguards to put on my guitars. These are not as heavy as a Greven pickguard but they could possibly be a good replacement. They don't have the weight and are more flexable than the Greven which will allow the top to vibrate more freely when played. If the top don't vibrate, you just as well make guitar tops out of plexiglass or use a heavier, stiffer pickguard. I marked its use as a backup, but until I experiment a little more with the difference in tone and volume, that get with this pickguard and the Greven along with a couple other pickguards that I have used and durability of this pickguard, I can't give an accurate opinion. This pickguard is thicker than the standard Martin and Gibson pickguards by very little, maybe .200ths. But I like the beveled edge and that the pickguard can be cut to fit around the soundhole rosette and rebeveled and polished out. I don't understand where some people come up with the idea that this pickguard hurts the sound or is hard to get it to stick. And if a pickguard is hard to get off,use a hair blow dryer and warm the pickguard(*"DON"T GET IT HOT"*)or you will ruin your guitars finish!!!!!Better yet,if you're unexperienced in repairs, take it to a guitar repair shop!!

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic Guitar Self-Adhesive Pickguard:

I just put this on my Takamine EA10C, because I was really scratching up the finish. I thought cool, the scratches would add character and maybe some great tone, when eventally I would scratch a hole in it. But it bothered me to ruin such a great finish on such a great guitar, and I was really worried that putting on a pick guard would change the tone. Check it out, the tortise shell really brought out the beauty of this guitar and surely will to any guitar. Reminder-Be sure to clean the area with just a cheap glass cleaner so that you get the oil off of the finish so that it sticks properly. Once again-----I love it.

The radius doesn't match a dreadnaught

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic Guitar Self-Adhesive Pickguard:

It has the look and beveled edges of an expensive acoustic pickguard, however, the radius is just a little off (small), so if you are looking for a pickguard that fits perfectly, pass this one buy.

    Disappointed

    By Adam Smith

    from Boston

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic Guitar Self-Adhesive Pickguard:

I put this pickguard on my Tak because the finish was getting quite scratched under the sound hole. It altered the tone of the guitar so drastically, I removed it a day later. The adhesive was luckily easy to remove and left no marks. I ended up throwing the pickguard out.

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic Guitar Self-Adhesive Pickguard:

Pricey for what it is, a fancy sticker, but it works great and looks great. I used it on my Yamaha CG3-103, and it works and looks great.
