The best case I've ever seen

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Banjo Case:

Simply put- just about perfect. I owned banjos and cases for nearly 50 years. I have a pre-war Mastertone. I decided to abandon wood cases as they are pretty heavy and eventually collapse from wear. I originally got the Gator XL ABS case, but that case has huge design flaws, and should not be purchased. (see my review if printed). This case costs more, but really exceeds everything. Super strong, great fit, unbelievable padding including the headstock, huge accessory compartment, 6 heavy latches, strong D-rings for the strap, very nice strap, great padded handle. A+.

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Banjo Case:

Would be better if a lid would remain open while I ramble in the accessory box. Otherwise a very protective and good looking banjo case

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Banjo Case:

Overall...a pretty decent case.Fairly lightweight compared to a typical tolex covered wood case.Does that offer better or worse protection? Time will tell.Hoping for the best.I've got my #1 'jo in there now. It's nice to have the assurance of 6 latches, but they're smaller than standard case latches and don't seem to have the torque of the heavier ones. This may be because the heavier latches would tend to apply too much torque if misaligned - might just break out the case around them.As this fiberglass is much thinner than a standard wood case and somewhat flexible. One real weak point I think is the seal that goes around the bottom of case that the top half fits into.At first I thought it was mounted upside-down since the cupped part of the seal? sits on the bottom, thus preventing it from really sealing. If this case was left out in the rain,I'm sure it would eventually get wet inside. It seems to me the seal should be mounted on the top.I thought of switching it around, but it's glued on fairly solidly. The other problem with the seal is it seems to be made of too lightweight rubber. It doesn't hold it's shape when going around the bends where the neck part of case meets the pot section of case. Here the rubber seal crinkles up and you have to take someones long fingernail, or a plastic knife or something and drag out the rubber that got pinched down under the top part of case when you shut the lid. That's deffinitely very annoying! So if you're buying this case because of it's superior weather protection.GOOD LUCK!The padding is good and tight and it has 2 neck supports as well as adjustable angled peghead supports. The only other complaint with this case is the color selection. It's like they used to say about the old model 't's...Any color you like as long as you like black. These cases are a very shiny grey with black guts.Blech! Come on China,I know you have a broader color scheme than this!!How about white and orange,or red or geen or blue...or just about anything else.I bet that alone would sell more cases! With a little tweaking, I think this could be one of the most sought-after cases out there.Overall would I buy another??? I don't know if the pound or two in weight savings is worth the almost twice the price of a decent wooden case?
