I've wanted this rack for so long, and finally got it. I had a Gibraltar rack and Pearl blew their competitors out of the water with this. I love how the tubing is square, and it actually is 100% slip-proof. It is also very stable. i have 3 rack toms, 2 floor toms, and 11 cymbals, and this rack doesn't wobble the littlest bit. I HIGHLY recommend this to everyone. Thank you Pearl for being so innovative and smart.

I bought this rack and have just put it back in the box to return it. It was so difficult to assemble and to rearrange all my toms back to the way I like them that I figured that using my standard setup would be much easier. Not the best item to buy, you really dont need a drum rack. Seriously go buy some more cymbals or something its a much better investment.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

I came across one of these in a show room and purchased it for our band's road kit. I am not a drummer, I play bass and guitar but I knew it would solve many set up and show problems of which our drummer complained. It is strong enough to support my weight. The pipe clamps hold a great deal of mass without coming loose. Extensions are available and with extra clamps and arms, it may be configured in every imaginable design. Every piece in the kit is clamped to it so nothing ever moves. Kit holds double kick, 2 flr toms, 3 rotos, snare, two chimes, 2 triangles, gong, high-hat, 8 cymbals and several mikes. Locks make set up easy and fast.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

This is a great drum rack. The build quality is excellent and I can't imagine a part of it breaking under normal use. As a weekend warrior, my only complaint with the rack is that it's A LOT to move around. I have both a curved and straight three sided rack and both function essentially the same. The curved cross bar doesn't really gain you much versatility.

Have had this rack one year and would never go back to a forest of cymbal stands. The square pipe design rocks! The Icon is stable and solid and totally flexible. A great addition for the serious Pearl player.

The best... hands down

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

This is not my first rack. I have owned both square and cylinder shaped tubbing and this rack is by far the best. I have never owned or seen another rack that even comes close to its quality and reliability both on and off the stage. My rack has also taken it's fair share of beatings from being poorly packed away in the truck and you would never even know it. I have owned this rack for over 4 years now and if I should ever need to replace it I will get the exact same one without any hesitation.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

This rack is great. The square tubing doesn't let the clamps rotate in any way at all. It is also very portable and easy to set right back up with the memory locks. It is Much better than the DR-80, b/c of the height adjustments. So get this rack you won't regret it.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

first of all i got this 5 days ago not long enough to have the test of time but i still get it. so ok to start out easy to put together. insane how it changes the set up. you can literaly place ANYTHING ANYWHERE!!! ok now it is a pain to deal with cause its so odd shaped and transfer wont be easy. i just did it today and was super disappointed. its bulky and hard to menuver through doors and such if transporting it folded up. if you were to take it apart it would be like having the stands your trying to get rid of. it makes my drums look beautiful and i can tell that i play better. it has infinate possibilitys.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

What a gift this was...I retrofitted all my old Tama stands to give me a wall of cymbals surrounding me...never again do I have to choose which ones to play in order to fit them around my kit...I recommend getting Mapex boom arms for the post clamps if you need more cymbal access. I was able to fit my new LP jam blocks/sambago bells on it as well, and the adjustability is great. Finally I have found an actual use for memory clamps, which come w/ this rack, and make set up that much faster. Plenty sturdy, lightweight aluminum horizontal square tubes, sturdy chromoly vertical tubes, solid feet, highly adjustable & a nice tuning key, too!

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

I bought this set up used from a friend and will never let go! The first time I took it for a test drive, I realized how perfectly all four toms plus all 6 cymbals were positioned. After using it three times I fell in love with how easy it is to repeat a quick, perfect set up. I know it looks like it takes up a lot of room, but I've had it in some pretty small British pubs, and it uses no more room than a regular 5 or 6 piece set up. It's improved how I feel behind the kit, and by default, the quality of my performances! Get this thing now!!!

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

This is my first drum rack, playing for over 20 years, thought it was time for a change, and to enhance the look of my new kit. I can?t believe I waited so long. The rack was very easy to set up, and my drums are not going anywhere. I do wish the rack would come with a couple of extra clamps, but how wouldn't. The side arms are a bit long, leaving an empty look to the set up, oh well; guess I got to go buy more gear right!

No match for this rack system

By Steve-c-zUr

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

This rack is the most versatile, stable and reliable rack on the market. I?ve owned one for roughly five years. It has stood the test of time. I think the concept of square bars is brilliant. There is no slippage as there would be on a round bar like other manufacturers make. It?s kind of a pain to move around, but all racks are. It is one of the very best equipment investments I?ve ever made. My kit has a much smaller foot print on a stage, yet I don?t feel cramped. No tripods for the rest of my band mates to trip over. I highly recommend this rack.

Not Very Solid

By Brownpaiste

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

The legs always fall off when on the road moving. Too boxy and not very versatile to needs of a drumset. Larger sets need to be curved to reach all toms or cymbals not square. On the road the clamp that holds one leg to other broke!!! And even though the part is screwded in It CANNOT be bought. An entire new leg must be purchased.

Not the best

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

My eperience with the Pearl drum rack was not a very good one. One day, as I was adjusting it, the clamp that attatches to the vertical round pipe broke off and can't be fixed. If I were to buy another rack, I would definetly get a Gibralter.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

I really want a rack, and when I finally save up enough, this is the one I wanna get. First, its a pearl, and I love pearl hardware and sets, second, it has square tubing, unlike other brands that ise circular tubes. Which meant there is no chance for it to tilt foward(or backward). Also, the bases are steadier than the cheaper pearl rack. I wish it came in black though, would look better with an all black set.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

This rack is amazing I was a little weary at first since the box it was shipped in weighed a ton, but your gear will always be in the same place and never fall. This thing is beastly and even if a fat perrson stood on it, the rack would not fail.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

I've been contemplating a rack for years but never thought it would fit in my car. I was wrong. The rack breaks down all the way and takes up less space in my hardware bag than my stands did previously. Very easy to assemble. I played a gig with it the same day it arrived! Heavy duty construction, yet not all that heavy. Square tubing is the way to go! This rack is totally sturdy and will not slip at all compared to other racks. Very easy to assemble, totally ergonomic and comfortable. My rack toms and cymbals are exactly where I want them. My kit has never felt so comfortable and secure. No matter how hard you can play, your kit will not move. The days of a stand falling over after a hard fill are over! The straight stand is totally comfortable...I don't see the point is spending more for the curved rack. My only complaint is that the rack and the extra clamps are pretty expensive but expect this thing to last forever. Buy one and you will never want to go back to stands. My suggestion to someone looking to decrease set-up time, unless you have a truck or SUV where you could leave the rack partly assembled, you won't be saving anytime. It still takes me just as long but it looks cooler and my kit feels much better.

Comments about Pearl DR-503 ICON 3-Sided Drum Rack:

being a metal drummer that is on tour dealing with the 5 crashes 2 chinas 4 splashes hi-hats and ride can be a real pain in the @$$... but when i got the rack that all changed. i have 5 toms suspended on the thing also (10,12,14,16,18) and it holds them very well. it also sits well over both of my bass drums. it makes set up a breeze but i have to get the rack in place on stage before i can put anything on it or else it becomes to heavy to move with all that stuff on it. every night my drums and cymbals are in the exact same place. when i go to the studio to do some recording everything is exactly where i want (and know) it will be. get a rack today, if you are dissapointed, i will buy it from you.
